1 round minor league player draft

need advice on adding a 1 round minor league player draft . We currently have a 12 team roto 8 man keeper.
We'd like to add a 1 round draft for minor league players after locking keepers, but before the yearly re-draft.
Is anyone else doing this? Just wondering the best way to do it.
I'm thinking it needs to be players either with less than 30 games of mlb time, or whatever mlb considers a rookie.
There needs to be a website that all owners can reference to make sure the draftable players are below the game limit to be considered a rookie.
Anything else I'm missing?

I would do it after the regular draft personally, let folks who want to use a regular pick on a kid first then do the rookie draft.

Originally I was going to attempt the same thing but as someone was asking for lists of eligible players myself and folks I talked with about creating one realized this was an error to do it beforehand and we did it afterward with a list. Of course thats just me/our opinions.

In any event once we implemented it we went with

"Any player who has not appeared in an MLB game before 9/1 of the prior year" Saves from counting innings, at bats etc and avoids folks who were just called up last year when rosters expanded. Some may say thats too extreme of a cutoff and again to each their own opinion!

Another league I am in that has had minor leaguers for a while goes with 150 AB, 75IP SP 35IP RP

In the end though as well as long as you set the parameters there are a number of websites with stats and service time that folks can also research. I was glad a person pushed for a list though, made it better for everyone with that list and holding it afterwards.

Thanks for the advice and ideas.
I like going with a list or the numbers structure.

Which site would you suggest to find that sort of list?

Most of the leagues I'm in use 130 career AB's and 50 career IP's. You could obviously tweak that to whatever you desire for your league. Being that you are only doing 1 round you don't need much of a list. I'd suggest Jonathan Mayo's rankings from MLB's website. He has the top 100 players listed with last year's stats and scouting reports so this should be more than enough for what you are trying to do. I would find a good top 150 or top 100 list, import it to Excel, and then delete anyone that did not meet our particular league critiera.

The good thing is anyone wants to research further or question there are so many sites that track games play, career IP, game logs (to determine if they played before this date or that, etc

I believe I usually use baseball america's list, or keith law's from ESPN
