I'm in a 12-team roto (standard stat + Holds/OBP) auction-style keeper league. We get to keep as many players as we want in our active lineup (bench/DL must be dropped) before the draft. I must be either at/under $26 with a full active roster OR under $26 with a minimum of 0.10 to spend on each open slot I may have for the auction. Here's my team:
C - J. Lucroy (0.30), W. Rosario (1.40) 1B - E. Hosmer (1.90) 2B - D. Pedroia (1.70) SS - S. Castro (2.10) 3B - E. Longoria (2.40) MI - H. Ramirez (1.70) CI - B. Lawrie (1.50) OF - C. Gonzalez (3.40), J. Heyward (2.10), J. Upton (2.50) U - J. Bruce (3.40), D. Jennings (2.00), B. Belt (1.00)
SP - D. Price (1.90), C. Hamels (1.90), J. Zimmerman (1.50), B. Anderson (0.10), M. Moore (0.10) RP - A. Chapman (1.40), J. Nathan, (0.60), J. Grilli (0.40), J. McGee (0.20)
Active lineup total price, 35.60. Or 9.60 over my $26 budget. My budget is grossly bloated and I must make some trades, else I would drop the players and get nothing in return. Who would you move and who would you target? Note the black hole at 1B, that's a top priority of mine. WHIR as always!
C-Doumit, Lucroy 1B- Fielder 2B-Pedroia SS-Castro 3B-Longoria CI- Lawrie MI- H. Rameriz OF-Cargo Jennings Heyward U-Morneau Markakis Brown
SP-Price Greinke Zimmerman Moore Anderson RP-Nathan McGee Doolittle Grilli
Tough to say. Lot of quality players at good prices. I think Bruce is really high. Your gonna have to move several of the higher value players for younger players with upside. Would need to know what your thinking and who might be available before I could get more specific. I do like Hosmer however.

Here's what I'm thinking...
C - J. Lucroy (0.30) , W. Rosario (1.40) 1B - E. Hosmer (1.90) 2B - D. Pedroia (1.70) SS - S. Castro (2.10) 3B - E. Longoria (2.40) MI - H. Ramirez (1.70) CI - B. Lawrie (1.50) OF - C. Gonzalez (3.40) , J. Heyward (2.10) , J. Upton (2.50) (Rumor mill has him in trade talks with San Diego) U - J. Bruce (3.40) (I'm sensing a 40-homer season this season), D. Jennings (2.00) , B. Belt (1.00)
SP - D. Price (1.90) , C. Hamels (1.90) , J. Zimmerman (1.50) , B. Anderson (0.10) , M. Moore (0.10) RP - A. Chapman (1.40) , J. Nathan, (0.60) , J. Grilli (0.40) , J. McGee (0.20)
I don't pay for catchers or saves. Like you said, I'm going to be moving some high priced players and have numerous avenues to pursue. I too like Hosmer, but his price turns me off a bit. I have a glutton of outfielders, so one of them will be moved.

C - J. Lucroy (0.30) , W. Rosario (1.40) 1B - E. Hosmer (1.90) 2B - D. Pedroia (1.70) SS - S. Castro (2.10) 3B - E. Longoria (2.40) MI - H. Ramirez (1.70) CI - B. Lawrie (1.50) (Not real high on him. Would move him) OF - C. Gonzalez (3.40) , J. Heyward (2.10) , J. Upton (2.50) (Rumor mill has him in trade talks with San Diego) (Would move Upton. Heyward hasn't shown me alot either) U - J. Bruce (3.40) (I'm sensing a 40-homer season this season), D. Jennings (2.00) , B. Belt (1.00) (Definitely move Bruce)
SP - D. Price (1.90) , C. Hamels (1.90) , J. Zimmerman (1.50) , B. Anderson (0.10) , M. Moore (0.10) (Zimmerman is a hot commodity, probably get something good for him) RP - A. Chapman (1.40) , J. Nathan, (0.60) , J. Grilli (0.40) , J. McGee (0.20) (Aren't they going to try and make Chapman a starter this year

I think that you could explore trades involving Rosario, Upton, Bruce, Zimmermann & Jennings. I would hang on to Zimmermann if you don't get any bites. The rest I would take my chances on re-drafting. Bruce is way overpriced.
C - W. Rosario (1.40) 1B - E. Hosmer (1.90) CI - B. Lawrie (1.50) U - J. Bruce (3.40), D. Jennings (2.00), B. Belt (1.00)
RP - A. Chapman (1.40), J. Nathan, (0.60), J. McGee (0.20)
I would try to trade these players, if not these would be the ones to drop.
Chapman is you're biggest trade chip. I don't think he does as well as a starter and I would try to trade him now. Perhaps Chapman + Hosmer or Lawrie for A Beltre or A Gonzalez?

I'm thinking going after Joey Votto. Was thinking throwing Bruce + Chapman or Bruce + Hosmer for him.

Votto would be a good target. I would try Bruce and Chapman first. I doubt the owner would do Bruce/Hosmer. I wouldn't be afraid to look to trade Upton too.

This will lower your salary by $12.20 and leave you some room to draft. I think Hosmer can rebound this year, BUT I want him at $1.00. If I was to keep any of the ones i cut, it may me J. Zimmermann, I like his team and
I've come up if a few scenerios to get my team under the $26 cap, but the caveat of dropping those players is that chances are pretty good that I won't see them get back on my team in the auction. I may save $12.20 that allows me to spend 2.60 at the auction on eight players, but some owners will have over $10 bucks to spend at the auction and easily outbid me.
