I'm in a 12-team auction keeper league, $260 cap. Player salaries go up $5 a year to keep.
I was offered Starlin Castro at $13 for my $23 Tulo and $19 Gallardo. I wasn't planning on keeping Gallardo at his price, especially when I have Strasburg at $18 and Greinke at $16.
Current keepers (We're only keeping 10 this year, next year it's unlimited as long as we can afford the $5 increase):
So trading for Castro would save me for the remaining of my team, plus not have to worry as much about the injury issues with Tulo. But of course in my head I feel like I make this deal and Tulo plays 150 games next year. Thoughts? Am I crazy for not considering Gallardo as a keeper? I do also have Samardzija for $3, is he worth keeping over a guy like Middlebrooks?
I think I would rather have Tulo even with Castro being $10 cheaper. Tulo's upside is just so big and he is still very affordable. Maybe if you were to get something else in the deal.
I agree that it doesn't make sense to keep Gallardo considering your other options. I would keep Sammy over Middlebrooks. You save money for one thing and for another I just don't think Middlebrooks will be worth owning next year.

Tough. I could see you going either way. I would pay $23 for Tulo all day though. I am also higher than most on Castro. I'd probably go for broke with Tulo here though.
Yea I don't think you should keep Gallardo at that price, you're good with Stras and Greinke, also I think you should keep Samardzija over Middlebrooks. Now as far as the Tulo part of this. I wouldn't do it. I just think he's too valuable. Although I do like Castro unless the other guy adds another good value player, it'll be a no go for me. Even then, I'll do everything I could to keep that middle of the infield together for at least a few more seasons, don't get much better than Cano and Tulo. Now you just gotta hope Tulo stays healthy.lol
