Effect of Astros on AL only auction league values

Postby etex211 » Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:14 am

I am in a 12 team AL only roto auction league. I am interested in hearing thoughts on how the addition of the Astros will affect the auction values.

I would expect the superstars to remain virtually unchanged, but for the middle and lower tier players to be reduced a bit.

Thoughts, please.

I don't think it will effect things much. If the Astros had a lot of talent on the team, then maybe but even then it wouldn't effect things by more than a buck or two. Really the only two hitters that might get drafted will be Altuve and Pena. Pitchers will be Norris and maybe Harrell, Lyles and Veras. None of these guys add enough depth to any one position to effect prices.

Jed Lowrie as well & maybe JD Martinez, but I agree. Most of their guys are barely rosterable outside of Altuve and whoever ends up closing games.

Our league is pretty deep. Utility infielders and 4th/5th outfielders routinely go for 5 bucks or more, so any new blood will make a difference.

But I get what both of you are saying. Thanks.
