3 of first 13 picks in Dynasty Draft How would you rank?WHIR

Postby converge241 » Fri Dec 28, 2012 11:07 am

Hello,

In a dynasty league where had a nice run of contending, money finishes, and winning the league over the 09-11 seasons but hit some road blocks in 12, which was my last year in a realistic window of our league which is very cyclical (which is good for the league, parity and all), and as soon as I hit those bumps I hit the reset button and went into rebuilding. Traded all players who had contracts that were going to expire for more youth and other things and through some of those efforts added an extra first rounder. Won the draft lottery of bottom teams as well to obtain 1st pick every round. I have identified the 13 players on first glance that I would consider in those picks (1/1, 1,7 and 2/1 12 team league so that's the 3 of the first 13) but looking for some opinions in rankings.

Please keep in mind I do not expect to win/contend in 2013 (hey it would be great but not realistic, there are many other teams stronger and more implanted in the contending cycle) but looking at that more in 14 and 15. Many many good minor leaguers are already owned

Best of the available players (NOT in any set order) and their eligible hitting positions:
Joe Mauer C/1b
Dustin Pedroia 2b
David Wright 3b
Ryan Zimmerman 3b
Matt Holliday OF
Oscar Tavares OF
Jose Fernandez
Yovanni Gallardo
Roy Halladay
Cole Hamels
Cliff Lee
Kris Medlen
Adam Wainwright

some other notable names outside of my 13 I grabbed for scouting, and many of these names may be more suited to rentals for folks looking to win now vs long term guys:
Billy Butler
Arod (injury doesnt matter short term since rebuilding, long term concerns though)
BJ Upton
Brandon Phillips
Aramis Ramirez
Chase Utley
Carl Crawford
Melky Cabrera (now with less juice!)
Dan Haren
Jon Lester
Cj Wilson
Josh Johnson
a pile of closers

standard 5x5 scoring

my team for reference (and as you can see I dont really have a starting lineup pre-draft due to the minor leaguers):
C - Salvador Perez
1b -Corey hart (OF)
2b - Michael Young (1b,3b)
3b - Pablo Sandoval
SS- Hanley Ramirez (3b)
OF - Nelson Cruz
OF- Brett Gardner
OF- Will Myers
U - Jurickson Profar
Bench Hitters: Billy Hamilton, Travis D'Arnaurd
Starting pitchers (all P, no SP/RP slots):
Brett Anderson
Matt Moore
Tim Lincecum
Brandon Beachy
Matt Garza
Edinson Volquez
Hisashi Iwakuma
Tommy Millone
Jason Motte
bench pitchers:
Rubby De La Rossa

That's a whole world of info but appreciate any thoughts and leave a link for yours - if I don't see yours right away during the day will be sure to check later on and reply. Thx!

Matt Holliday OF
Dustin Pedroia 2b
David Wright 3b
Ryan Zimmerman 3b
Roy Halladay
Cliff Lee
Cole Hamels
Adam Wainwright
Billy Butler

Here is my ranking of the guys you should target in those first 13 picks. I always take best available players and if you can fill in two of your glaring holes with studs, 2B/OF, then it should serve you well in the short term as well as down the road.
