I love Goldschidt for 2013 plus. not only 30+ HR, but maybe soon could be reaching 40?
he had some incredible power in the minors. 2011 he had 30 HR in 103 games. 2010 he had 35 HR in 138 games.
but his 2nd half numbers make me wonder. he had 3 HR in August, and only 1 HR in September.

Interesting question: will Goldschmidt stick at 1B if the DBacks end up trading J-Up to Texas for Mike Olt+? Would acquiring Mike Olt mean Goldy will move to an OF corner spot since he is probably more athletic than Olt? Olt played 3B in the minors, but the DBacks already have 2 promising prospects at 3B in the minors in Ryan Wheeler and Matt Davidson. Obviously in the short term (this year) if Goldy goes to OF and has 1B/OF dual eligibility, it will increase his value, but long term I believe he is a better value at 1B.

It is merely a hypothetical to think about, but my best guess would be that Olt would be the opening day 3B and Goldy the opening day 1B. Continue to groom Wheeler and Davidson in the minors (both likely wouldn't be on the opening day roster anyway), and have an OF of Kubel, Eaton, Ross.

However, the hype train might make him a very risky purchase if you are one those people that like to wait until the end of March to do your draft. By that time, there is a very good chance that he will be the #4 1B off the board behind Votto, Pujols, and Fielder. While I do believe he will be a top 4 1B by the end of the year, taking him there leaves no little room for profit and a big risk of overpaying if he doesn't pan out.

I think this is a definite concern when targeting Goldy. I could see it being very similar to what happened with Hosmer last March. By the time the drafts came around there was so much hype and frenzy about Hosmer being a sleeper/stud to target that he ended up being drafted in a position where not only was his upside limited but when he faltered he destroyed alot of teams.
