Do I trade for .......... ?

I have Rodney and Casey Janssen each for 1.00 in my AL 5x5 12 team 8 player 260.00 keeper league. I have AJ Pierzynski for 2.00 I was thinking of offering for Addison Reed who is also 2.00. I would have three pretty decent closers for 4.00 going into the draft. I like AJ going to the Rangers . So I'm unsure if I should make this trade offer. I don't expect him to hit 27 bombs again but I read he'll be hitting 5th in that lineup . He could come close and is usually a solid batting average guy. Two bucks is a good price for a top 12 catcher . My other hitters so far are .

You don't think AJ will thrive in that Ranger lineup and ballpark? Am I over thinking having three closers ? Thing is I might be able to turn Reed into Desmond Jennings. The Jennings owner has asked me for Rodney but he wants me to include Mike Moustakas for Jennings. He would have included a 9th pick . Picks are done after the main draft and are used to pick up minor leaguers or remaining major league players . But usually not much left in a 12 team AL only. So I passed on that deal.

I am fine doing the deal for Reed as well. Catchers can be found so AJ might do well but that isn't a sure thing. Reed would step in as your 2nd best closer and gives you a little wiggle room if any of them gets hurt or turns in a bad season which closers have a tendency to do.

If you could get Jennings that would be really good but I don't think I would add Moustakas to get it done.

Thanks for your help. I appreicate it. I can have my choice of Danny Hultzen or the 16th pick . As mentioned the picks are done after the draft. Hultzen would go on my minor league reserve unless he starts the season with the big club. Then I would have to protect him with one of my 8 keepers or drop him. Maybe I could get a better pick.

I would do the deal. AJ is ok but not great. Who knows what he will do in Texas. I like Hosmer more than Moustakas although Moose plays the premium position. Plus you get Reed (a solid closer) and Hultzen (a solid prospect). Seems like a good deal to me.

Agreed. Getting Hultzen is a nice extra.

But after that trade I traded Hultzen for the 5th pick hoping to land a nice minor leaguer or a major leaguer that can go on my reserve squad. Hultzen will be 5.00 if he makes the team and that means I would have to drop somebody. I would prefer Tilman for 1.00 than Hultzen for 5.00. Plus I like Tilmans upside.

I think that you're going to regret moving Erasmo. I think that he is really going to open some eyes this season.
