Injured SP Sleepers?

Postby jeffmerk » Fri Dec 14, 2012 8:11 pm

Who are the best low risk, high reward starting pitchers that will likely be returning from injury in 2013? I only play in keeper leagues so It's okay if they probably won't reach their full potential until 2014-15. Cory Luebke comes to mind. Any others?

Luebke looked like a stud LHP before he got hurt... had all ki ds of hype on him. If he returns pre-injury form hes an ace but you wont get the innings out of him that you want this year. Daniel Hudson is another that jumps to mind, was a top 20 SP for most his young career till his TJ last year tho hes a late season return this year imo.

You should be able to nab Ted Lilly in the late rounds/cheap, could provide decent strikeout numbers, ratios and wins.

Pineda will be way over hyped. I like Luebke, and doubt you can grab Beachy that cheap.

As of now, Lilly doesn't have a rotation spot. Capuano, Harang and Lilly have all been bumped from the rotation by Greinke, Ryu and Beckett. They'll need a couple trades and/or injuries in order to get back to starting.

Ted Lilly is not going to be a 13.5 million dollar reliever.

He'll be pitching somewhere...could help obtain him even cheaper.

These are all good suggestions. After a reasonably thorough scan of the MLB DL lists, I would think that Scott Baker and Colby Lewis also fit the bill.
