NL-Only Keeper Help- WHIR

Postby brommy15 » Thu Dec 13, 2012 6:06 pm

Standard $260 budget, 23 player NL Roto Keeper league. Can keep up to 4 players...

Potential keepers are as follows:

Posey $15
Harper $11
Howard $11
Wainwright $6 for a 1 year contract or $11 for each of the next two years
Lohse $4 (if he stays in NL)
Samarzdjia $2
Capuano $4
Belt $6 for a 1 year contract or $11 for each of the next two years.

Obviously Posey and Harper are no brainers. Not sure whether I keep Wainwright for 1 yr at $6 or 2 yrs at $11 per year? Also think Howard seems obvious at $11, but am I better off having a high k guy like Samarzdjia for $2?

This is only my second year doing an NL Roto Keeper, so any advice is much appreciated.

Thx,

Thanks Kaiser. So you'd sign Wainwright to the 2 yr deal, $11/yr? And no Howard? Curious as to why given his price. I'm thinking he'll go in the mid 20's in our league.

Posey, Harper and Wainwright for 2 years. Thats the easy stuff.

As for the harder question, I would probably take Samarzdjia. You aren't going to find that kind of SP for $2 in an NL only league. Howard is a decent price but there are a lot of concerns with him and I think I would take the cheaper contract.

Yup. Samarzdjia at that cost is going to be a STEAL in an NL only. I have a feeling that he'll be flying under the radar a bit this year. He shouldn't be.

Gotta keep Samardzija. He's got filthy stuff and he's trending in the right direction. Every year he's getting more opponents to swing at balls outside the strike zone, and every year opponents are making less contact on those same pitches. That screams improvement, and he has huge sleeper breakout potential. And those observations are rooted in stats as well as in observation. No brainer at $2.

Posey
Harper
Waino (@ 2 years and this is a no doubter for me)
Gotta go with Shark. I have Howard in an NL-Only for $14 and I'd toss him back for a $2 Samard
