Sabathia or Wainwright?

Postby GradySizemore » Mon Dec 10, 2012 1:39 pm

Who do you think is the better keeper for next year, CC Sabathia or Adam Wainwright?

I would think that CC would be the better option but I'm a little concerned about his health. Wainwright had stretches last year where he looked like the Wainwright of old but overall it was less than desired.

I'm pretty much dead-locked on who to keep, so that's why I'm coming here. :-)

I'm with you on this one. My gut is telling me Wainwright. Then again, it is also telling me to get some Wendy's Chili.

Well you can't go wrong with Wendy's Chili. I think all things being equal they end the year about the same, but I'm leaning towards the guy who doesn't have injury concerns at the moment.

Plus Wainwright is a full year removed from TJ now and has a normal offseason. That means a lot.

I like Wainwright more.
As far as last year, his 3.23 xFIP was the 2nd best of his career.
He was unlucky in babip, strand rate, and hr/fb ratio.

If they cost you the same thing, be is draft pick or no penalty for either, I'd go CC Sabathia 100%. I wouldn't be worrying about his health come next season.

Wainwright here. I think Sabathia is going to start turning into that player that when healthy can still pitch at a high level but health will keep holding him back. I see Wainwright getting back to the top 5 SP and perennial Cy Young candidate he was a few years ago.
