Which to Keep for NL Only

Postby wackadoodle » Sun Dec 09, 2012 12:40 pm

Barring making a trade (or a real life trade that involves one of my keepers going to the AL) I am looking at throwing back one of the following-

AJ BURNETT 4/1

or KENLEY JANSEN 8/2

Twelve team NL only, standard with inflation at usually 25-35%.

Thoughts?

I think 8th inning guys who average over 13k/9innings are valuable in almost any league. I'm not completely sold on League yet and Burnett is 37 and started to show signs of slowing down last season. I like Jansen a lot but with Burnett at a decent price I am looking for advice.

I can't say that I really trust Burnett and I do think that Kenley will get 9th inning duties back before too long. I would throw AJ back.

I'd keep Jansen.

I loved having Burnett last year as a waiver claim, but I definitely wouldn't trust him for the long haul. Go for Jansen.

I am going to go with Jansen as well but it is kind of hard to give up Burnett for such a cheap price.

Thanks guys. After seeing just how many closers will most likely be kept my decision is a lot easier. I appreciate all of the input.

WEll there is a lot of competition for starting slots in certain rotations around. You can probably steal a back end starter to replace Burnett (someone like Randal Delgado comes to mind!) - I'd take Jensen.

Thanks but my decision was made up for me when the d'backs traded Bauer. I lost him so i have exactly ten guys that I am comfortable keeping.
