Angels decline $12M option and he proceeds to sign a one year deal for $13M. A bit strange that the Angels couldn't have just picked up the option and traded him to the Nats and got an asset worth up to $1M in return.

I think this is a good signing for the Nats. This was the first year since 2004 that he failed to reach 200 innings and he was pretty underrated during that time. If he's healthy, this could end up being one of the better signings of the off-season. The Nationals' rotation is looking pretty stacked now too: Strasburg, Gonzalez, Zimmerman, Haren, and Detwiler. That group compares pretty favorably with any other rotation.

I would agree with that. The Nats are going to make a deep playoff run this year if they stay healthy.

Yeah, if Haren can bounce back, that's a stupid rotation. I think his back may have bothered him all year, so here's hoping he can get back to full strength. He could be a great bargain in drafts next year.
