Help/with the 1st and 4th overall pick in the 2012 draft

Postby coachclark20 » Fri Nov 30, 2012 10:34 pm

With Jose Fernandez in play, would you take him #1 and hope Corria or Zunnio fall to 4 with Jose going off the board first? How would you pick the 1st and 4th? I'm having a hard time deciding.
I figure the top prospects to be valued and available are:
Jose Fernandez, Buxton, Corria, Zunnio,Gausman and any international FA that have signed recently.

In order to get an answer, I think you need to list some of the other prospects that are available. at least the top 5 or 6.

It really depends on your needs. Fernandez is probably the highest ranked out of that group, but they're all pretty close.

Fernandez and Zunino could be up in 2013 - heck, Zunino has an outside shot to break camp with the team, although Fernandez probably a late season callup at best.

With Buxton and Corria you're looking at guys that are 3-4 years away.

Fernandez and Corria are the guys I would take in that order. But it would be nice to know who else might be available.

I like Buxton the most by a lot myself.
Correa next.
Fernandez is nice, but pitching can be found.
Zunino is overrated, solid, but not a lot of upside.

I agree about Zunino. Solid catcher but don't I don't see him ever being a top 50 player in the majors.

I agree on the Zunio comments as well.

Fernandez is your top choice. Correa is likely gone by your pick at #4. He's the choice if he's still there.

I would steer clear of Buxton. I just get that Adam Jones type feeling from him. It's not a bad thing at all since Jones is an All-Star. Just look how long it took. The kid is very, very raw.

Don't forget about Courtney Hawkins, Jorge Soler and Yasiel Puig. I'd be curious to see how long Lucas Giolito sits around too.
