So the Angels are saying that Haren is that much more damaged than Hanson huh?

Apples and oranges. Haren had a 16M option while hanson will get something like 4M in arb. Haren would have had 1 more year before FA and Hanson has 3.
Imo this offseason is showing that both Hanson and Haren are more damaged than initially thought. The Angels couldn't even find a team to give up anything for Haren on a one year deal while Hanson and his unfulfilled potential only brought back a very good RP'er.

Well ya thats true, im just saying that they couldve kept Haren for just money without giving up an arm, and not had that longterm commitment. Only 13 mil FWIW, they paid him 3 mil to walk away.
I suppose if Hanson makes 13 mil in arb over the next few yrs then he will have been effective/healthy enough to be a better value than Haren at 1/$13mil tho
