I can pick 8 straight up keepers out of the following players. Let me know who you would keep...
A McCutchen, OF J Votto, 1B S Strasburg, P C Kershaw, P D Pedroia, 2B C Headley, 3B I Desmond, SS C Sale, P B Upton, OF A Gordon, OF K Medlen, P B Revere, OF S Choo, OF B Zobrist, 2B, SS, OF I Davis, 1B M Morse, 1B M Prado - 3B, OF
By the way, I have won this league three of the past four years so don't sweat it too much. Let's go for upside for the long term.

I'm going to assume your league uses a middle and isn't geared toward SP. Sale is a fine 8th choice as well tho with 8 keepers I'd prefer to go 6/2 rather than 5/3 hitters/pitchers. Morse is also a consideration as you have some great overall hitters but not especially power heavy which Morse should help. A fine looking keeper set which should help you contend yet again. Depending on your league settings and what might be avail to draft I could easily see changing off Zobrist to 1 of the other listed but right now locking down all 3 middle spots looks like a strong 8th
I'd make the same choices except I'd take Sale over an aging Zobrist.
Team Izzy C Mauer 1 E5 2 Cano 3 ARam S Rollins CI LaRoche MI Altuve O Melky, Pagan, Morse, Hunter, Ruggiano SP Lee, Fister, Estrada, McCarthy, Lohse RP Chapman, Jansen, Frieri, Fujikawa Bench 1 Hart S Cabrera O Eaton U Ortiz P Marcum P Miller P Fernandez
I am going to agree with Fast Dog's list. I would attempt to move Desmond or Zobrist along with Sale to upgrade your final spot. I have no problem keeping any two of those three guys if you can't get a deal done. For the upcoming season along I would prefer to keep the two SS's.

I tend to lean towards pitching moreso if the talent is there worth keeping, which you obviously have at your disposal. I especially like both Sale and Medlen's upside and, not knowing your league parameters, both pitchers may be eligible to start next season at either the RP or SP slots. I like Headley a lot but no room as a keeper. He won't slide under the radar next season but should continue to be a good source of power for the Padres. Dropping him from your keeper list gives you a better chance to claim him next year over Sale or Medlen.

About right. I think I would only take 1 SS and and keep Sale. The only other thing that might change things is if Upton lands some where interesting. Say Texas or Colorado would sign him, I might keep him over either of the SS as well. While I don't expect that to happen, Upton in a hitters park, could be very interesting.

To fill in more details about the league (which I should have done before), it is 12 team, 5x5, and 23 starting positions (9 P spots, no designated SP or RP spots).
Some of the results are interesting, including a lot of you who would have no issue keeping 3-4 pitchers. I tend to agree actually. I was also interested to see the support for Headley and Desmond who have had really only one great year. I think Headley is for real but I am a little skeptical about Desmond based on his BB/K ratio and some other factors.
I can make off season trades so I will definitely be looking to package some of these players for an upgrade!
Finally, I saw some support for an older, injury prone Morse but no votes for Ike Davis who is only 25 years old and did really well later in the season after he was fully recovered from ankle surgery.
