Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Giants moving Tim Lincecum to the bullpen next year has a better chance of happening than them trading him.
Heyman says Lincecum's "unreal popularity" in San Francisco, as well as his $22 million salary for 2013, are reasons why he almost surely will not be traded. The plan for now, according to Heyman, is for Lincecum to be back in the rotation next year "with a couple adjustments to his mechanics and offseason routine." However, some people with the Giants think he's "more equipped for the pen at the moment" because he's "in shape for shorter bursts and perhaps not the longer hauls required to start." The Giants are pretty well set up in their bullpen, especially if Brian Wilson can come back strong from Tommy John surgery. It would be surprising if Lincecum isn't part of the 2013 rotation.
who could have thought before this season that Lincecum's future could be out of the bullpen.
he wasn't as bad in the 2nd half as he was in the 1st half.
