I was working on some keeper decisions in one of my deeper leagues, and realized that a number of closer situations still seemed to be in flux, so I thought I'd put together a list and see what other people thought.
Places with murky closer situations for next year that I have questions about. Feel free to give your two cents on how these will turn out.
AL Yankees- re-sign Soriano or Rivera? Blue Jays- is Janssen the guy or does Santos come back Tigers- re-sign Valverde or roll with Benoit or Coke? KC- Is Holland the guy? Twins- ? A's- is it Cook or Balfour or someone else?
NL Marlins- Cishek has the role all to himself now right? Mets- Is Frank Francisco the guy still? Nats- do they stick with Clippard or go back to Storen? Cubs- stickign with Marmol until they trade him right? Giants- Brian Wilson gets it back next year right?
I don't think half of these teams know what they are doing yet so it's pure speculation on my part but...
AL Yankees- re-sign Soriano or Rivera? - Rivera will be the closer until he retires. Blue Jays- is Janssen the guy or does Santos come back - I'd say Janssen has the job. Santos will have to earn the roll. Tigers- re-sign Valverde or roll with Benoit or Coke? - I'm guessing they will be busy this offseason finding someone else. KC- Is Holland the guy? - For now. I think spring training will have a competition for someone to earn it, but for now he has the leg up Twins- ? - no idea A's- is it Cook or Balfour or someone else? - Probably much like this year, many people will get chances.
NL Marlins- Cishek has the role all to himself now right? - With a new manager coming in who knows, but I think they like him in a setup role, ultimately Mets- Is Frank Francisco the guy still? God I hope not. Nats- do they stick with Clippard or go back to Storen? Storen. Cubs- stickign with Marmol until they trade him right? Yep. Giants- Brian Wilson gets it back next year right? If healthy yes, if not, Romo is a damn good clone.

Rivera, if he wants it. (I'm guessing he decides to return, & that's the only part in doubt.) Janssen Not Valverde -- maybe Alburquerque Holland Perkins Camp competition
Cishek I doubt it -- I'd guess Parnell is ahead of him Storen Unless he suffers a major implosion (always a possibility) Wilson -- They were hesitant to give it to Romo this year, anyway (presumably b/c they wanted to control his innings).
My own question -- Where does Ryan Madson end up? (Team and role.)

I could see him ending up in a setup role to start. I could see him fitting in with a lot of teams. He makes sense for the Mets, Twins & even the Tigers.

He does seem like the kind of guy who will just sign into a setup spot. That said, he would certainly be in line to step into a closer role anywhere the closer falters or gets hurt, which happens non-stop. I don't know if you watched the WS, but it would certainly appear that Valverde may not be the closer in Detroit next year, a very possible spot for Madson, along with the others Element mentioned.
With Leyland remaining in charge, the Tigers can turn their attention to the rest of the offseason. They exercised a $6 million option on shortstop Jhonny Peralta and a $3.5 million option on RHP Octavio Dotel. Each had carried a $500,000 buyout.
Detroit is prepared to let closer Jose Valverde and designated hitter Delmon Young leave via free agency. Valverde had a poor postseason, and Young's spot will be taken by Victor Martinez, who is set to return next year from the knee injury that kept him out all of 2012.
