For hitters, I would probably go with Hosmer. He didn't have a good year but there were somethings to be happy about. I really expect big things from him so I would take him over Lawrie and Konerko. But I see it being a three player race with those guys.
For pitchers, Moore is an easy keep. So much talent and he put together a good second half. Then I would take Medlen. I don't love him and I am not sold that he can keep something like this up next year but none of the other guys can top Medlen.
"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."- Douglas Adams
For hitters I would go with Lawrie, who I think produces more towards what people were expecting of him this year. I would have more confidence in him for some reason over Hosmer.
Moore and Morrow for the pitchers. Solid improvement from Morrow this year. I love the K's.
Lawrie/Hosmer is tough, but I'd have to go with Lawrie, if only for lineup protection. Hitting in front of Baustista and E5 is a nice place to be.
Pitchers I think Moore/Medlen is the way to go. Morrow is enticing, but with inconsistency and injury, he's hardly reliable. Harvey seems legit too, but you can get him cheaper than Medlen at this point, so if you want to get him back, it'll be easier than getting back Medlen.
I'd have to think long and hard about it, but ultimately I think I would take Konerko over Lawrie, with Hosmer close in the race, too. I've profited too much from Konerko's under-the-radar skills over the past few season to discount him now, even if age is a factor. I know picking him may be shortsighted, but he is a proven commodity, and that is what I am looking for. Lawrie and Hosmer are still "high potential" guys who have not yet started producing at the level Konerko does. You get SB with the other two that you don't get with Konerko, but he comes out on top in AVG, HR and rbi.
As for the arms, I agree with others who say that Moore and Medlin are the ones. Moore started really putting it together in the second half. I'll be targeting him next year.
Lawrie over Hosmer. It is pretty close in my mind but 3B over 1B gives you a lot more flexibility. You keep Hosmer and either Agon fills your OF or you use a Util spot.
Konerko will be 37 by the start of next season, and looking at his 2nd half of .263, 12 HR, 33 RBI, 26 Runs and a .771 OPS doesn't exactly scream keeper. I'd just much rather take a shot with Lawrie than go down with the ship on Konerko.
