I am keeping Justin Verlander as one of my two pitchers I'm keeping for next year. I would like your opinions on which other one I should keep and why? Its either Gio Gonzalez or Brett Anderson. I would try to trade the other one. But most likely I'll have to drop one since my hitter keepers are extremely solid. Votto Braun Miggy Harper We keep six players . We can trade draft picks. But when we get one we have to give one back. We all need to have 17 total picks at the draft.
Huge Anderson fan but you'd have to get a great pick to keep him ahead of Gio; who did it week in and week out all year. 21 wins 200+ K's vs a small sample size and Anderson coming off TJ & an oblique injury and at least a small concern with injuries popping up again. If you can get a big pick for Harper and keep Anderson thats a possibility, but right now he's a notch behind your other awesome options
I understand wanting to keep Gio. I think Anderson can be that 200 K's type guy. And with the Astros joing the AL thats another team hecan dominate several times a season. Thanks for your opinion.
I do think Anderson is going to be 1 of the top SP the next decade; Gio is already there. In a league that only keeps 6 there is a chance Anderson gets back to you in the draft, Gio or Harper wouldn't. I'm keeping Anderson in 2 leagues next year, but I don't have the choices ahead of him you do. If you believe in the soph jinx, trading Harper and getting a better draft pick then keeping Anderson isn't all bad either; tho I don't think most owners would go that route
You keep Gio. Anderson might have similar or more upside but you can get him back in the draft much easier than you would with Gio. Unless of course you get a good draft pick in exchange for Gio.
No chance would I give up any one of those bats in exchange of keeping an extra SP. Harper is a great keeper for years to come.

Just so you are aware of our keeper rules. We can keep players a total of four years with NO extentions of ay kind. Once a player is drafted or taken off the FA list he can only be protected an additional three years. The number after the player is years left he can be kept. Not sure if this changes and thinking. Plus I have the 4th and 5th overall picks in this years draft.I don't have a 3rd round pick Just a few players that will be avaliable. Albert, Fielder, Cano, McCutchen, Reyes, Felix, Jared Weaver, Holliday, Beltre, N. Cruz, Rollins and Butler
Maud is right. Anderson will be easier to get back than Gio would be. He is also right that you should hold Harper and throw Anderson back. I was temporarily forgetting my rule to always favor bats over arms.
"bats over arms" will be a common desire for most owners; which is why he might be able to do better trading Harper for a pick and keeping Anderson. I think it all boils down to how good the upgraded pick is to switch to Anderson from Harper
I am a huge believer in Brett Anderson. But why trust him to become what Gio already is? Not a chance that I would consider keeping Anderson over Gio. I would certainly be targeting Anderson is every draft next year though. He should still come at a relative bargain.
