I'm gonna say it' s Acta. Probably wishful thinking, but giving this newly assembled team to Jim Tracy would be a nightmare. Please, please don't be Jim Tracy.

Acta is probably a good guess. Managed the Dominican WBC team in 2006 that Reyes was on, has connections with AA and his administration.
I'm indifferent. Not excited, but not upset. It's strange to listen to a press conference where the new manager sounds like he won the lottery. It's like one of those hidden camera shows where they tell a guy they're the new CEO of a company just to see his reaction before they tell him it's a joke. Gibbons can barely stop being giddy long enough to put on a straight face and say how he feels he's the right man for the job.
Gibbons is a fantastic managerial choice and surpasses any expectations I had for the hiring. He's by far the best manager the Jays have had in my time following this team over the last two decades. For the first time since he was scapegoated by JP in 2008, this team will have a manager that actually has a clue about how to manage in-game. A refreshing change, indeed.

I hope that his interpersonal skills have improved because we don't need him pissing off expensive blue jays again.
Are you referring to the time where Hillenbrand wrote "play for yourselves" and "this ship is sinking" on the clubhouse whiteboard or the time that Ted Lilly showed him up on the mound by not giving him the ball? Because both times it seems fairly obvious that the players were out of line.
Most of Gibbons' past players liked him just fine. So I'm not concerned about his interpersonal skills and I don't think AA is either judging by what he said in that press conference.
This hiring is made even funnier by all those who ignorantly dislike him because they connect his time to the failure of the JP Ricciardi era. It's great that AA just plain doesn't care about any of the PR aspects of it.
I've been wishing Gibbons would come back ever since he was scapegoated. Always thought it was a pipedream before this, but AA has been making such dreams come true over the last week.
