I just know way too many bandwagon Giants fans to cheer for that franchise right now. And the Yankees and Detroit? I respect Verlander and Sabathia and love watching them pitch, but that's about all you'll get out of me.
So the intangibles it is.
Nah it has to be Giants...
Yankees: Don't need another championship Detroit: zzzzzzzzzzzz Cardinals: Stink of douchebaginess San Francisco: Awesome city, orange clothing, pandas
I can't believe I'm rooting for NY/SF. Right now, I'm just going for the matchup that would cause the most buzz, because all these teams suck.I'll be rooting the hardest against St. Louis who had no right being in the playoffs in the first place.
To be fair, most NL teams suck. And the Tigers aren't that bad. Four extremely solid starting pitchers and three big offensive weapons. They may not have deserved to make the playoffs since they finished in 7th place, let alone have a bye through the first round and also have an extra off-day after the ALDS, but they're a fun team to watch. A few black holes on offense and some terrible defense holds them back from being a powerhouse.
So I got home kinda late yesterday and only got to see one inning of the Nats/Cards game. The 9th.....heck I even turned it on with two outs in the top of the 9th...and all I have to say is.....

To quote Chris Carpenter "If we don't deserver to be here, beat us."

I'd take SF and STL over the Yankees right now. Their offense looks old and besides Sabathia the SP is weak. The Tigers do scare me but their bullpen looks like a wreck right now and might be their downfall.
The Yankees are the best team left considering the depth of their lineup and overall talent throughout the roster. Of course, that doesn't mean a damn thing at this point.

It's the GM's fault they were put into position to choke. They probably would have won in 3 games, maybe 4 with Stras. We'll never know for sure, but to give the GM zero blame because of how the last inning played out isn't looking at the whole situation properly. They essenially handicapped themselves to a terrible degree at the most important time of the year. Anything less than a WS win will bring the question up, and I think a series that went down to the final strike shows how every little thing does matter in the end.
