Kipnis vs CarGo

Got offered Kipnis for CarGo in our keeper league today...both are 14th rd keepers(never changes)

Now before looking at this and think I am crazy for even asking given counting numbers, lemme give a few peripherals of our league:

-Custom points league where Ks, GIDP and errors hurt, but guys who produce in real life produce here
-ie Adam Dunn(2.1ppg) and Starlin(1.7ppg) hurt as much as help, but Miggy(2.9), Trout(3.3ppg), Braun(3.1) are beasts
-Elite players avg 2.8 points per game or more(1B gets slight advantage for DPT points)
-CarGo avg 2.5ppg this year and 331.9 total(3.1ppg last year for reference)
-Kipnis was at 2.5 this year and totaled 375.2
-2 years in a row CarGo has been CarGo during our playoffs....not playing...ouch
-2B is shallow(just like in every league) and there are no 2B keepers in late rounds currently, plus Pedroia was 1st overall pick 2 years in a row(considering keepers are locked up and off board)
-5 keepers total and they count in round originally drafted, the later the better
-Positions are standard except OF is LF, CF, RF, OF to make it a bit interesting in rostering guys
-rd 15 is FA keeper round
-Can trade draft picks for following year only

My keepers currently are
CarGo(14), Posey(13), Goldschmidt(13)
and deciding between, Lawrie(15), DWright(12), AJax(15), Hosmer(15), Shelby Miller(15), Oscar Tavares(15), Cliff Lee(4), JWeaver(3), Tulo(3)for final 2 spots.

Interested to hear some opinions on where people think Kipnis' performance is heading and if 2nd half was aberration or telltale sign of sophomore slump of the Hosmer variety...eww

I know what I get with CarGo is Elite when he is playing and 14th rd is very nice. Kipnis has something to prove but potential elite 2B in 14th rd would be a centerpiece going forward if he works out. And after finishing 1,3,2 in this league I am left in a position to do some rebuilding after making some moves to bolster my roster down the stretch and coming up just short...thanks Melky!

I understand why you are asking, but at the end of the day I think you are overthinking this. CarGo is an elite talent. Kippnis has potential, yes, but you go with the proven player. Keep Cargo and don't look back.

I actually woke up today thinking I am over thinking this one

I seem to be eagerly basing this on my recent frustrations of losing in the finals and CarGo not being there for me to calm my nerves, and on the always exciting shiny new toy feeling of a different player. Got burned by Tulo and Cliffly this year also. Still blistered

While I love taking the necessary gamble in fantasy baseball at times, CarGo is a guy that, even if not there in the playoffs, has definitely put my team on his back and won me H2H weeks by himself. Maybe they should start calculating FBBWAR in sabremetric village...ha

CarGo. His season was crappy this year and he still was far better than Kipnis. This is the worst you will get from CarGo, so don't sweat it.

In all seriousness .... CarGo is a round 1 talent whereas Kipnis isn't even really a top 50 player yet. Not close.
