It's a 12 player keeper league. Do I keep Ortiz? Not sure if I want to take a chance on him. Or should i take a chance on one of the other players. Also trades are open in the off season I would like to try and get another pitcher. Was thinking about Sheilds. But not sure who to trade for him. This is my team. Thanks for any help. WHIP

Assuming you are keeping twelvem, then I do not see Ortiz as you next best keeper. I think you are looking at one of Wainwright or BJ Upton. Ortiz may not be back in Boston next year and is while I absolutely hate BJ Upton, I do not think you can go with Ortiz over him at this point unless you knew for sure how healthy he is and who he will be playing for. And Wainwright is not the worst guy to have from round 12.

I agree on this for the most part. I think Ortiz is too big an if, and Upton IS one of those players i dont like. Wainwright would be a good fit but there is one pitcher you have that a lot of people are going to overlook because of his overall stats. Mike Minor. He had a terrible start but these are his stats since th first of July 15 starts, 14 of them quality starts. 7 wins 1.918 era, 0.874 whip and 73 k's in 92.2 innings. 73/18 K/BB. Thats the stuff an ACE is made of. Its justa thought, hes being given great consideration to making my protected roster.

I understand what you guys are saying. But BJ was almost a 30 30 guy. SBs is huge and that he hits Hr is a plus. No? Do you guys think he is going to get worse next season not better?

Same garbage from Upton. Has to be the most overratd player (along with his brother) in fantasy for the past 5-6 years. Low avg, a ton of Ks, some steals..mediocre power. His hrs this year were a high and I simply do not believe. Here are his avg/hr/rbi splits since 2006.
He hits in th 240s or worse the last 4 years. He essentially has 20-25 HR power. He has never driven in more than 82. His numbers this year are essentally the same as last year with a minor tick up in HRs. HIs SBs actually went down this year though. The only thing this guy does well is steal bases for you. He kills your avg and produces mediocre power and rbi (and run) totals for an OF. In the 15th round, I have no problem picking him up. As a keeper, he is marginal at best. The track record with Upton is pretty well established and those still holding out hope that this guy becomes the next elite player are still drinking the kool aid. He is what he is imo.
That said, if Ortiz is healthy and playing in a favorable park with a good offensive team, I would consider him the better pick. But you simply do not know with him at this point. Even if he returns to Boston, one has to wondoer how healthy he is and how good the Boston offense is likely to be next season.

The problem with Minor is he is inconsistent and just as you think he has his act together he goes and stins the joint up for a few weeks. He is not a top 15 round pick next year imo and is a late round flier you take on the hopes that he does indeed break out and get it together. I would not spend a keeper pick on him if I had better options.
My other question is how good is Napoli this year numbers are that great. I know he got hurt but he only 4 more games than he did last year. I was going to keep wianwrite over him. I also have Santana to catch. and more than enough 1st 3rd corner guys. Any thoughts.

Last two spots are a toss up for me. I'd go for Papi and Jackson. Tough call.
