This. I've been trailing in my ESPN Pts League for 2 1/2 weeks, and have finally put myself in striking distance, just 12.5 pts back. I have to decide between Ian Kennedy or Chris Tillman for my last start of the season (think I'm going Tillman), and he has Hiroki Kuroda and Scott Diamond. I need a tremendous offensive explosion, a good start from Tillman, and one of his SP to get lit the eff up, while the other not getting a W or QS. Slim, slim chances, but at least I've battled back and given myself a puncher's chance.
My other league wrapped up last Sunday, the team KCollins and I run together, where we reigned in our second consecutive championship.
I'm currently 1/10,000th of a WHIP point away from sealing up a roto championship (1.2400 to his 1.2399). The guy I'm chasing has maxed out his IP so I could have just sat all my pitchers if I had an additional clean 0.1 IP by any of my pitchers over the past 6 months. But noooooo, it's all gotta come down to Cliff Lee and a handful of closers on the final day of the season. Also, the team in 2nd place wound up 0.2 IP under the max IP limit, so he gets another full day of pitching and will probably move up another 1 pt in Ks because of it, and maybe a point in ERA as well.
I'm in a roto league. Up by 3 pts but could lose another .5 tonight, since I'm done w/ pitching, and I'm tied on saves with someone. The guys in 2nd can reasonably gain 2 points if he gets 2 more HR than the two guys above him and another point if he gets 2 more steals than the one guy above him. It's going to be tight. Unfortunately, my inning and AB counts are completely out except for catcher position. Here's hoping for good day for me.

There are worse guys to be pitching.

True, but I'd rather just have everybody on the bench and assure myself of winning. Now it's like a 50/50 chance. Funny thing was after the leadoff hitter popped out to the catcher to start the game my team shot past him in the standings. Was literally one out away from it. Just gotta pray the WHIP stays there. Nats have a little rally going which I don't much like at all...
