Or maybe include early season pickups to replace busts, but not really interested in the guys you streamed for countable stats in the playoffs. Draft position if you'd like, as well

Barring 2 exceptional days and a collapse by the 1st place team, it soesn't look like I'll finish any better than 2nd in any league this year. But you have to see what the computer picked for me in a Yahoo NL only auction league where I missed the draft, no I didn't win this one either. :-b

Infante for a buck, that's a steal! The rest of the team... not so much.

Here's my NL Only auction. I'm currently in first place, with a 0.5 pt lead over second and 1.0 pt lead over third. Very tight.

13 Joey Votto, Cin 1B $31
20 Giancarlo Stanton, Mia OF $25
31 Cliff Lee, Phi SP $24
45 Angel Pagan, SF OF $13
54 Logan Morrison*, Mia OF $13
65 Jose Altuve, Hou 2B $11
67 Cory Luebke*, SD SP $12
75 J.J. Putz, Ari RP $15
85 Chase Headley, SD 3B $9
94 Dexter Fowler, Col OF $10
96 Ryan Roberts, TB 2B $9
99 Sean Marshall, Cin RP $10
114 Ian Desmond, Wsh SS $9
125 James Loney, Bos 1B $13
134 J.D. Martinez, Hou OF $10
139 Brandon Belt, SF 1B $8
151 Mark Buehrle, Mia SP $2
174 Mike Leake, Cin SP $2
182 Eric Young Jr.*, Col OF $2
185 Ryan Vogelsong, SF SP $2
204 Juan Nicasio*, Col SP $9
205 Ruben Tejada, NYM 2B $3
215 Edward Mujica, StL RP $4
232 Jorge De La Rosa, Col SP $3
234 Rex Brothers, Col RP $3
242 Carlos Ruiz, Phi C $3
253 Joe Blanton, LAD SP $1
Also picked up Carlos Gomez right after the auction.

I'm looking at that James Loney pick right now and am starting to question my strategy of paying for players that are guaranteed at-bats. That guy is a weak-fly-ball machine.

12 Team Mixed League, currently in first by 3 points.

3 Adrian Gonzalez, LAD 1B $35
27 Cliff Lee, Phi SP $24
30 Prince Fielder, Det 1B $29
39 Jose Tabata, Pit OF $6
62 Zack Greinke, LAA SP $18
63 Frank Francisco, NYM RP $4
101 Chris Young, Ari OF $11
110 Asdrubal Cabrera, Cle SS $9
111 Brandon Beachy*, Atl SP $12
123 Nick Markakis, Bal OF $8
128 Sergio Santos*, Tor RP $8
131 Kenley Jansen, LAD RP $6
154 Tommy Hanson, Atl SP $11
159 Brandon League, LAD RP $9
170 Carlos Beltran, StL OF $7
187 Carlos Lee, Mia 1B $8
191 Josh Reddick, Oak OF $2
195 Chris Capuano, LAD SP $1
196 Neil Walker, Pit 2B $10
199 Joe Nathan, Tex RP $5
204 Colby Lewis*, Tex SP $4
207 Austin Jackson, Det OF $5
209 Tim Hudson, Atl SP $2
219 Ian Desmond, Wsh SS $3
221 Ted Lilly*, LAD SP $3
231 Chase Headley, SD 3B $3
236 Edwin Encarnacion, Tor 3B $6
237 Jesus Montero, Sea DH $4
242 Brandon McCarthy, Oak SP $4
255 J.P. Arencibia, Tor C $3

Hit the jackpot in this one with multiple late-round picks. Headley, Desmond, Edwin, Reddick, Beltran, and Nathan. Had closers galore (nabbed a couple FA closers in addition to the 5 that I drafted) that I was able to turn into Bourn/Jennings/De Aza at various points in the season, so I could compete in steals. Still made a couple mistakes as far as trades go, but overall this league went very well.

In a 14 team auctions and rotisserie keeper league:
2 catchers, 1 of each 1st, 2nd, 3rd, SS, CI, and MI, 4 OF, 2 UT(any position), 5 SP, 3 RP, 2 Swingmen (any pitcher)

categories are:

BA, BB, R, RBI, SB, SLG, ERA, HD(Holds), K, S, W, WHIP

My Team at the start of the season was...
Napoli, Torrealba, Fielder, Ryan Roberts, Sandoval, Castro, Rollins, Daniel Murphy, David Murphy, Jay Bruce, Nelson Cruz, Jeff Francouer, Alex Gordon, Denard Span, BJ Upton, Gavin Floyd, Matt Garza, Ted Lilly, Tim Lincecum, David Price, Mika Adams, Kyle Farsnworth, Carlos Marmol, Joe Nathan. Joel Peralta.

My bench guys were: Travis Hafner, Brian Roberts, Devin Masraco Mike Trout, Javier Vazquez and Chris Sale.

I started Chris Sale right out the gate. and flipped between Span and Hafner as well as Mesraco and Torrealba for a bit. Week 9 I started Trout(i was late in starting him to be honest but better late than never).

I made 4 total trades;

1. David Robertson and Brandon Beachy for Gordon and Torrealba.
2. Ryan Roberts and David Robertson for David Wright and Nyier Morgan.
3. Jeff Francouer for Chris Johnson.
4. Devin Mesoraco and Brandon Beachy for Ryan Cook and Miguel Montero.

Injuries to Lilly, Garza and Beachy almost cost me. I was lucky to pick up some solid pitchers to fill those holes and keep me from going down.

I am in 1st right now hoping to hang on. 2 days left.

A few things that helped me alot were Nelson Cruz having 580 AB and not seeing prolonged injury list, Sale and Trout outstanding years, trades 2 and 4 above, and good luck as always.

Re: Poast your championship DRAFTED team

Postby Izenhart » Wed Oct 03, 2012 5:06 pm

I have a bunch of teams that finished 1st, many are similar so I'll do the ones that I had the most fun with

Team A (roto - 12 team)
1. (12) Justin Upton (Ari - OF)
2. (13) Carlos González (Col - OF)
3. (36) Cole Hamels (Phi - SP)
4. (37) Josh Hamilton (Tex - OF)
5. (60) Paul Konerko (CWS - 1B)
6. (61) Jay Bruce (Cin - OF)
7. (84) Michael Cuddyer (Col - 1B,2B,OF)
8. (85) Jimmy Rollins (Phi - SS)
9. (108) Drew Stubbs (Cin - OF)
10. (109) Brandon Beachy (Atl - SP)
11. (132) Cory Luebke (SD - SP,RP)
12. (133) David Ortiz (Bos - 1B)
13. (156) Brandon Morrow (Tor - SP)
14. (157) Ubaldo Jiménez (Cle - SP)
15. (180) Edwin Encarnación (Tor - 1B,3B)
16. (181) Geovany Soto (Tex - C)
17. (204) Chris Sale (CWS - SP,RP)
18. (205) Ted Lilly (LAD - SP)
19. (228) Delmon Young (Det - OF)
20. (229) Josh Willingham (Min - OF)
21. (252) Roy Oswalt (Tex - SP,RP)
22. (253) Mitch Moreland (Tex - 1B,OF)
23. (276) Mark Buehrle (Mia - SP)

Team A had a solid top end draft I tried to not pick any closers and to use the waiver wire to get them as they popped up. Ended up with Jansen, Frieri, Reed, and a mishmash of others enogh to finish 2nd in saves in the league. When I picked Young and Willingham back to back I was hoping one of them would have a career year, but thought Young would be him. Going to finish 6-7 points ahead of 2nd place here.

Team B (H2H - 14 teams 9x9) 5x5 plus OPS, H, K, E, QS, HLD, BB, L
1. (13) Robinson Canó (NYY - 2B)
2. (16) Evan Longoria (TB - 3B)
3. (41) Dan Haren (LAA - P)
4. (44) Pablo Sandoval (SF - 1B,3B)
5. (69) Aramis Ramírez (Mil - 3B)
6. (72) Madison Bumgarner (SF - P)
7. (97) Carlos Beltrán (StL - OF)
8. (100) Joe Mauer (Min - C,1B)
9. (125) Josh Beckett (LAD - P)
10. (128) J.J. Putz (Ari - P)
11. (153) Kendrys Morales (LAA - 1B,OF)
12. (156) Coco Crisp (Oak - OF)
13. (181) Tyler Clippard (Was - P)
14. (184) Chris Sale (CWS - P)
15. (209) Grant Balfour (Oak - P)
16. (212) Mike Aviles (Bos - 2B,3B,SS)
17. (237) Francisco Liriano (CWS - P)
18. (240) Matt Thornton (CWS - P)
19. (265) Allen Craig (StL - 1B,2B,OF)

After drafting Longoria and Sandoval I wasn't sure if picking Aramis Ramirez was the best fit for my team when he fell to me in the next round, we only get 1 DH, and by picking him my DH was locked up. Luckily with Longoria and Sandoval hurt a lot I had a super good backup all season and never missed a beat. I traded Beltran for Pujols straight up early and the trade went through for me on the day Pujols hit his 1st home run of the season. Being active and selecting a balanced team that competes in every category won me the championship. Rarely did I lose a week, yet I finished the regular season 0.5 behind first and got seeded #2 - the week before the playoffs started was my worst week of the season. I picked up some of the best relievers in the game in Jansen, Frieri, Clippard and Grilli (Check out Grilli's numbers). This league is bench shallow, and I did well carrying only 4 starters most of the year - Bumgarner and Sale where wonderful anchors. Marco Estrada carried me from September on, I had most of all Mike Fiers good games. Even though I traded Beltran at the end of April he still ended up with the second most at bats for an OF on my team, Josh Reddick got the most. I used 25 different OF's and ended up with a nifty combo of Ichiro, Carlos Gomez and Adam Eaton in the championship this week. Picking up Homer Bailey for his no hitter in the championship was huge and without him I wouldn't have this locked up already.

Team C - (12 team roto)
Budget $260
1. (22) Clayton Kershaw (LAD - SP) $38
2. (24) Justin Verlander (Det - SP) $40
3. (31) Dan Uggla (Atl - 2B) $21
4. (33) Curtis Granderson (NYY - OF) $32
5. (37) Giancarlo Stanton (Mia - OF) $30
6. (59) Chris Young (Ari - OF) $11
7. (97) B.J. Upton (TB - OF) $17
8. (100) Jimmy Rollins (Phi - SS) $13
9. (103) Mark Reynolds (Bal - 1B,3B) $9
10. (164) J.P. Arencibia (Tor - C) $4
11. (173) Cory Luebke (SD - SP,RP) $8
12. (174) Sergio Santos (Tor - RP) $7
13. (178) Carlos Mármol (ChC - RP) $7
14. (183) Huston Street (SD - RP) $7
15. (189) Jeremy Hellickson (TB - SP) $5
16. (207) Doug Fister (Det - SP) $1
17. (218) Kelly Johnson (Tor - 2B) $1
18. (227) Matt Thornton (CWS - RP) $2
19. (228) Chris Sale (CWS - SP,RP) $1
20. (238) Francisco Liriano (CWS - SP,RP) $1
21. (245) Adam Dunn (CWS - 1B,OF) $1
22. (252) Carlos Peña (TB - 1B) $1
23. (253) Mitch Moreland (Tex - 1B,OF) $2

This was one of the most fun roto races I've had. I was tied for first up until yesterday, currently down 1.5 - but I am streaming 8 starers to clinch K's and hopefully wins, so I expect to win (unless 8 starters can't somehow muster 25+ k's and 2 W's. My team BA was as low as .239 a few weeks ago (dead last by a ton - 11th place is hitting .260 lol) when my hitters seemed to all get hot and I leaped over a bunch of people in R and RBI late. What also made this fun was it was a competitive league and I could not pick up closers fast enough, and will finish with only 4 points in saves. I would have locked this one up long ago had I had an extra reliever or two. Even though I'm last in BA I'm going to finish with about 60 more home runs than anyone else.

Besides streaming 8 starters I am also streaming hitters for stolen bases on the final day, 1 behind the next team and another team is 1 behind me. Michael Bourne has already stolen two bases today ;-D This team should finish 1st in a roto league while batting .243 for the season. ;-D
