Final Keeper - Bruce or Heyward ?

Postby laughalot » Tue Sep 25, 2012 2:01 pm

5x5 NL - Keeper League

We can keep 4 and I have 5 I like. I figure it comes down to Bruce or Heyward.

5 Choices:

A. McCutchen
B. Harper
G. Stanton
J. Bruce
A. Heyward

Which one goes?

Out of those five, you might consider me crazy for saying it, but I would either drop Bryce Harper or trade him plus Jason Heyward for a Miggy Cabrera type of player. Bryce has a ton of potential I agree but for next season I dont see him out performing any of the other 4 mentioned. Its hard to throw him back which is why I recommend doing a 2 for 1 and upgrading to a top 10 position player as I think you are limiting yourself with keeping 4 OFs unless your league players 6 or 7 OFers.

This. When you are limited to just a handful of keepers your mind set needs to be short term. Keep the four best players for the upcoming season. Harper's long term ability is intriguing. I don't see him setting the world on fire as a 20 yr old in 2013.

As it stands I would let Bruce go and keep Heyward. You should really tale the previous posters advice however and attempt to move Harper with one of these two guys to land yourself a big fish.

The advice of the 2 above posters is right on, and bears backing up. Gun to head, I would rather have Heyward for 2013 and beyond than Bruce, but the 2:1 is your best option, and with Harper's cache, you could fetch a very good price for a package with him.

I would keep:

A. McCutchen
G. Stanton
J. Bruce
J. Heyward

Like the guys above said, try to move Harper in a package deal to upgrade one of the 4 guys above.

Heyward over Bruce. Heyward brings better average and SB and next year I think Heyward's power goes up.

I have both in my league. I'm still hoping for Bruce to breakout to 270/40.
