Rather than argue one or the other, let's talk about who we think will win and also who we would vote for if we had a vote.
Right now I'd vote for Chris Sale. I'm completely biased though, he's carried my teams this year. I think Verlander will win though. Innings pitched seem to have a lot of weight with voters, and he's got slightly better numbers across the board over Felix. Besides those three, who else do you think has a shot?
Team Izzy C Mauer 1 E5 2 Altuve 3 ARam S Cabrera CI LaRoche MI Drew O Melky, Cuddyer, Morse, Hunter, McClouth U Ortiz SP Lee, Fister, Miller, Fernandez, Lackey, RP Chapman Frieri Grilli Gregrsn Bnch 1 Hart 3 Mdlbrk 3 Rendon O Eaton P Lohse Nolasco Santana
I think it should be Verlander, but Price will probably win. Price is certainly a good choice, too. Sale is close but he's pitched over 40 fewer innings than Verlander, and that's very significant since the quality on a per-inning ratio is similar between the two of them. Felix is great too but he has such a huge advantage pitching in Safeco that he'd need to have much better numbers than Verlander, which he doesn't.
61* 70**73**762*** MVP****NL11,AL07,AL05,NL04,ALNL03,ALNL02,NL01,ALNL00,AL99,ALNL98,ALNL96 RIP Cammi Cmon Bud, NOW is the time to sack up and force feed an Olympic style drug program down Fehr's fat throat. Save OUR game from these blatant cheaters!
It's funny that Eckersley was an afterthought in the CY/MVP in 1990 when he posted a 0.61 ERA and 48 saves. But in 1992 he posts a 1.91 ERA and 51 saves and easily wins both in a landslide. Those 3 saves really made a huge difference I guess you don't realize how far the voting has come until you compare it to how fantastically ludicrous is used to be. It's still terrible, but not nearly to the same extent.
