I am allowed up to 7 hitters to keep and need to choose 1 of these 3 guys: Hanley round 2 J Upton round 4 Kipnis round 18
My other hitting keepers will be: MCab rd 1 Bautista rd 3 Ellsbury rd 7 Granderson rd 10 Lawrie rd 20 Craig rd 24
FWIW i will have the first pick in rd 2 next year which will be 6th or 7 overall. (i would estimate that only ~6 owners will have a first a round pick to make. The rest will be keeping their first round player, and thus dont get to draft anyone that round) Many players will be virtually un-keepable next year do to league rules. Some names that will probably be available: Tulo, Longo, Tex, AGonz, Wright, Fielder, Reyes, Pedroia Lee, Halladay, Kershaw, Felix, CC, Moore

I had been penciling in Upton all year too, chalking up his poor start to the bum thumb. But man, his line is atrocious considering his ADP. 15/15? Im sure he will bounce back to some degree but his career line is trending to that of his brothers... how long do we keep this guy on our "future superstar" list? Although he did have an amazing season just last year
As far as Ellsbury vs Hanley, I think i'd prefer Hanley in a vacum as well. But surely I could just redraft him in the 2nd right? No way Ellsbury lasts til the 7th.... I assume hes a 3rd rounder next year
Upton had a bad year, but just turned 25. He had MVP numbers at age 24. I'm not worried. A low hr/fb ratio, added with a higher GB rate, has hurt his power numbers this year.

Upton in the 4th still too good to pass on. Wondering if enough other people keep a 2nd rounder and you could grab a different hitter than Bautista in 3rd. I'd prefer most listed to him, at worst you get him back?

I have last pick in the 3rd round. And barring a completely brain dead keeper decision, at most 5 players will be kept in the 2nd round and only 2 players will be kept in the 3rd.... so that means there will be at least 12 picks made between my 2nd rd selection and my 3rd rounder. ANd that doesnt even account for the guys who decide to cut their 1st rounder and make a pick there. Dont think theres anyway Bautista or any of the other hitters I listed last that long. Best case scenario Lee, CC, and/or Moore will be there and id happily take Bautista over all of them.
I would go Hanley. SS and 3b elig. J. Upton is like his brother...overrated and a lot of people continue to drink the Kool Aid. .271/12/55/86/13 in the OF. Exactly what is so great about an OF that puts up those kind of numbers? Those are MI numbers.
Good year, bad year, good year, bad year. This guys is a fantasy nightmare relative to his ADP cost imo.
