Best Keeper List?

Postby The Loveable Losers » Wed Sep 05, 2012 2:36 pm

Been offered a deal where I give up Felix Hernandez for Ian Desmond, Adam Jones, and Taijuan Walker (minors). This is a standard 5x5 roto league where we keep 5 majors, 1 rookie, and 4 minors. Don't care about the effect on this season so here's what my keepers would look like

Before Deal:

Majors
J. Votto (Cin-1B)
F. Hernandez (Sea-SP)
T. Lincecum (SF-SP)
A. Chapman (Cin-RP)
I. Kennedy (SP-Ari)

Rookie
Y. Grandal(SD-C)

Minors
J. Paxton(Sea-SP)
N. Castellanos(Det-3B)
W. Font(Tex-SP)
G. Cole(Pit-SP)

After Deal:

Majors
J. Votto (Cin-1B)
I. Desmond (Was-SS)
A. Jones (Bal-OF)
T. Lincecum (SF-SP)
A. Chapman (RP-Cin) or I. Kennedy (SP-Ari)

Rookie
Y. Grandal(SD-C)

Minors - 4 of the 5
T. Walker (Sea-SP)
J. Paxton(Sea-SP)
N. Castellanos(Det-3B)
W. Font(Tex-SP)
G. Cole(Pit-SP)

I don't think so. With only 5 MLB keepers, it seems like consolidating talent is the way to go, and this deal is the opposite of that. It's not like Felix is 33 and declining; at this point he's a year-in, year-out #1 SP. Walker probably has that potential but the gap between where he is now and what he could be is pretty massive. Desmond and Jones are fine players in their own right, but don't approach the elite level. They're more "Good, not great."

Thanks all! I stuck with Felix, Votto, and my cast of supporting jokers. Hopefully I have a better draft next year. 8-o

I would be more concerned with unloading Lincecum. Not worthy of a keeper in a shallow league.

Desmond is not a top 5 keeper so I would not bother with the deal.
