Keeper league AL only 6 team. I am in contention; need wins, strikeouts, ERA, WHIP.
Have been offered I trade Jose Bautista for Jeremy Hellickson or Ryan Dempster.
Is the deal worth it? Bautista is protectable at $24 for next year ($260 for 23 players)
My worst starting pitcher is probably Tommy Milone, but I will be starting everyone when they start (unless @nyy, v. tex, @ tex, etc.). I could also pick up JA Happ or Blake Beaven for the other slot. Happ however is @ nyy this start, then v. tb (ok), followed by @ bos, v. bos, @ nyy, @ bal, v. nyy (if all holds as current). Beaven also has bad starts after this week.
Additional info: Based on current schedules, the following are the matchups for Dempster the rest of the way (I know anything can change at any time), remembering his two bad starts with Texas were at home vs. LAA and @ Tex. His other three starts were quality:
@ cle,@ kc, v. cle, v. sea, @ sea, v. oak, @ oak. Looks like no LAA on that slate, and the only questionable home start is Seattle. Everything else looks like a tasty matchup. I think I have convinced myself to make this deal if there is a good shot Joey Bats is out for the year.

Without knowing the rest of your roster, it's kind of tough. If you need to replace offense than you definitely have to add another player to the deal. I don't trust Dempster. I dropped him two weeks ago. Hellickson has been good and I usually shy away from AL East pitchers but neither Toronto or Boston are what they once were.

Good luck whichever direction you go.
I completely agree with this post. I am not a fan of Dempster at all really since he has joined Texas. I think Hellickson definitely has more potential then Dempster, and he is a better keeper imo. I just dont like that he has to pitch in the AL East.
Given the needs now, I think either is fine. I don't trust Dempster not to take a crap on the mound every now and then, but Texas is hitting again. If you need wins and k's, go Dempster. If your bigger needs is era/ratio, then maybe go Hellickson.
