Trade Bryce for SP help? WHIR!

So I have decided not to keep Bryce Harper next year. I have a for sure playoff spot. I was wondering what your thoughts were on me trading Bryce Harper for some pitching help. I need to beef up my pitching because my competition has a real strong rotation as well as bats not quite as up to par as mine but close.

So the question is: Trade Bryce Harper for Chris Sale and Jake Peavy? he also has tim lincecum, should I try getting him for one of those guys?

Are you sure you can get Sale+Peavy for Harper? If so and you're not going to keep him then yes I'd make that trade.

If you think Peavy and Sale (both of which are candidates to be skipped a few times) can put you over the top pitching wise, then go ahead and make the deal. Just note that these guys may end up with excellent matches or terrible matches come playoff time (see below)-

H2H Playoffs Week 1- CWS vs. MIN + CWS vs. KC - WIN for both Peavy and Sale. Easy opponents who strike out a lot.

H2H Playoffs Week 2- CWS vs. DET + CWS @ MIN - The DET matches will be tough. The MIN matches will be easy. If Peavy/Sale get stuck with DET, this is not ideal.

H2H Playoffs Finals- CWS @ KC + CWS @ LAA + CWS vs. CLE + CWS vs. TAM - Mixed bag here. LAA will be tough, as will Tampa. KC and MIN should be easy matches. So it comes down to luck again.

All in all, this could be an excellent set of matches or a tough set. Take the current schedule and try to play out which pitcher would start which game in the playoffs.

Oh, and if this is a straight keeper league (keep a player with no time limit or penalties) then keep in mind that you'd be losing Harper for the next 10-15 years.

Thanks for the advice guys. Good way to look at the trade. Theres just no way I could keep him..I mean it's a race between him, Kershaw, and Hanley. I'm leaning towards Kershaw but who knows at the start of next season. Do you think it would be better to go after Tim Lincecum and one of Sale/Peavy or Sale and Peavy together? Thanks again!

Lincecum is too wild at this point. He certainly has the ability to dominate and probably an easy playoff schedule, but at this point in the season I'd stick with proven talent in Sale and Peavy.
