PTBNL's have to traded within 6 months and draft picks can't be traded for 12 months from the day they sign.

This is a pretty big trade if it goes through. The Dodgers need to be really sure that CC is going to return because 260M is a lot of money for 6 years of AGonz in his 30's. Beckett is a mess. His velocity is down along with his K rates. I'm not even sure if the NL will fix what ails him.

He already got TJ surgery, sometime this past week. From what I've read, the recovery time for an of is shorter than for a pitcher, so he'll miss some time to begin the year, but still be back for more than half the season.

Ah, I missed that. My point stands though. Insane amount of money to be taking on.

I don't follow the Sox much but can't believe the flushing of the system that is taking place up there. I thought AGone was supposed to be their cornerstone for a long time with Crawford.

I'm sure it wasn't easy to trade AGonz but it's hard to justify an expensive losing team and they probably had to include him to get the Crawford and Beckett contracts off the books. It will be interesting to see if they try to spend their way out of this mess or if they wait for a couple of their young players (bogaerts ) to develop. There is very little offense available this winter after Hamilton.

not sure where the Sox are planning on investing this newfound wealth, hopefully in an extension for Ellsbury. They are going to be heavy on pitching, but if that pitching is Kyle Lohse and Ryan Dempster, I'm going to strangle Cherington myself.

Ding ding ding. Crawford and Beckett, by themselves, attract virtually no one. Throw in a guy who can really help a team and all of a sudden there's interest. Thank you, Dodgers, for pressing the Reset button.

With Matsuzaka a free agent and Ellsbury likely gone (that's what I think ... why send off big contracts only to sign a new one with an annually banged up guy whose agent is Boras?), the team will look interesting next year. I look forward to it. Even if Papi is let go and Lackey is given a chance to do SP3/4 work, it'll be a great challenge to watch.

In a few years the Yanks will be joining the Sox most likely given how old those guys are getting. Might as well admit defeat for now and see where it goes.
