Postby jruffus1 » Fri Aug 24, 2012 10:13 am

I am in a 12-team H2H Keeper (4 keepers for their retrospective picks) and have Bautista coming off the DL today. Should I drop Machado?

Roster:

C - S Perez
1st - Dunn
2nd - Altuve
3rd - C Jones
SS - Andrus
OF - Granderson
OF - Pence
OF - Trout
Util - Willingham

Bench: Bautista (DL), Melky (can be kept for 21st round pick), Machado

SPs:

Cain
Morrow (DL)
E Jackson
Kershaw
Harvey
Holland
J Garcia

RPs:

Affeldt
Axford
Wilton Lopez
D Hernandez
Cishek

Is Hernandez really that vital? I would keep Machado in case he breaks out or Chipper fades away. If you had someone a little more realiable than Chipper Jones I would say yes part ways with Machado. Seeing that you dont, I would just cut ties with Hernandez... Especially with the way Putz has been pitching.

HOLDS count in this league, and with Morrow coming off the DL Saturday, Im going to have to drop someone else too! I forgot to mention that I also have Melky Cabrera on my bench, but see him as a very attractive keeper (even with the PED scandal) because he can be kept for a 21st round pick.

I'd be tempted to say Chipper should get the drop. Headed into the playoffs, do you really want to a guy that could sit 2-3 games in a row at the drop of a hat? I'd wait to make sure Bautista is ok, though. Give him a game or two, and see if he has any trouble swinging. I know he's had a rehab stint, but I still like to see it for myself.

The team struggles with AVG during most weeks, so that's why Chipper has been so valuable. I already have 4 keepers for next season, so it's not like I'd be keeping Machado anyway.

True...if you're not set on the idea of keeping Machado, then you could certainly drop him.
