If you're one dimensional, you better hit, hit, hit.
SF showed the value of defense and base running.

In a very small sample of watching MCab play 3rd base, it shocks me that players don't just continuously bunt at him.

Because it's not actually that easy to lay down a perfect bunt down the 3rd base line. There would be too many cases of the pitcher or catcher fielding it to make it worthwhile.

Doesn't have to be perfect if you have any speed. Just get it by the pitcher and you have a good shot.

Still not that easy. The success rate for bunting for a hit is so much lower than a sacrifice, because there's no wiggle room. It's hard enough to get a bunt down, but to make sure you get it past the pitcher, but don't hit it hard enough that it's effectively just a weak grounder to the 3B or SS is actually really difficult. It's even more so when you consider that the pitche could be high or a breaking ball, both of which are extremely difficult to bunt at all.

They got it wrong...no surprise. For their next act, they'll keep the best player to ever play the game out of the hall of fame.

I'm not surprised Cabrera won. I am surprised that only six guys voted for Trout (one of the ESPNs, Yahoo Sports, the two Boston writers, one of the Tampas, and one of the LAs). Interestingly, three of the four writers who work for websites voted for Trout.
