David Phelps and Brett Anderson, WHIR

Postby etex211 » Tue Aug 21, 2012 7:27 am

I am trying to decide if I should use either of these guys down the stretch. Here are my questions:

1. Sabathia is expected back this weekend. Should we expect more starts from Phelps after the Sabathia return?

2. Anderson comes back from TJ surgery tonight. Will he be productive? His rehab starts look encouraging.

Thanks in advance. WHIR when I get home from work tonight.

I feel more confident in Anderson being productive than I do Phelps getting starts after CC returns. The reward is far greater as well.

Thanks for the replies.

Just for clarification, I am not asking about one over the other. I am just asking about the viability of each of them as a starter for the remainder of this season.

I think Phelps could be the #5 SP for the NYY for the remainder of the season. Nova is pretty much done

I think both guys should be viable options down stretch. Anderson will be good no questions about that (especially after seeing last nights performance) CC will be just fine he's a work horse and Phelps as someone else mentioned will probably get the nod as the 5th starter or the Yankees could possibly move to a 6th man rotation. Doesn't sound like you need to cut either, but if you did Phelps is the clear candidate.

Hold onto Phelps and see how the Nova Phelps saga plays out.

Phelps is on our waiver wire, and Anderson is one of my reserves. Today is our weekly transaction day. I made a waiver claim on Phelps (dropping Chris Perez, don't need his saves the rest of the way and he can't be kept for next year), and I will wait until next week to activate Anderson. I wanted to see what was happening with Phelps before making my Anderson move, so I could stash Phelps if the Yankees sent him down. Now, I should be free to drop either Feldman or Hochevar next week in order to activate Anderson.

I am sitting second in my league with a far outside shot at winning. Picking up the extra starter for the stretch should help.

Thanks for all the help.
