Trade BMac, Straily, & Belt for Santana & Putz? WHIR ALWAYS

Postby ATLbraves » Sun Aug 19, 2012 6:22 pm

Should I trade my Brian McCann, Daniel Straily, and Brandon Belt for Carlos Santana and J.J. Putz?
Belt could be kept in the 19th round, Strailey could be kept in the 21st round. B-Mac, Santana, and Putz all wouldn't have good keeper value.

I am trying to shore up my offense for the playoff stretch. I am in first place by 9 games but my offense has taken a pretty big hit lately with the loss of A-Rod and Ortiz. I just worked out a trade with Napoli for B Mac, but now B-Mac has a frayed labrum and a cyst on his joint. So that will likely restrict him for the rest of the season. Today is the trade deadline, and I have a chance to grab Carlos Santana and another closer to help with saves. Since I have Street on the DL and it's still a little foggy when his return will be. Plus Andrew Bailey is not a sure thing to get his closer job back.

I will also have the opportunity to pick up a pretty decent bat off the FA after this trade goes through, there are still some pretty nice names available:
Garrett Jones
Chris Young (ARI - OF)
Cody Ross
Colby Rasmus

He also said I could take Belt out of the deal, and just give him a late round pick. I dont mind doing that either, but if I could just trade him Belt and then pick up Garrett Jones, I think that might end up being the better deal for me.

Thanks for the help on mine, but I was really looking for what type of player I needed to add to make it fair.

I would take this deal. Trade Belt and pick up Jones.

The other owner also has Jose Bautista on his team, should I attempt to get him in this deal too? Or do you think Bautista will not be back to true form the ROS since he has been dealing with wrist injuries?

yea I would def do this deal, upgrade at catcher and another strong closer. if you can add Bautista in there for cheap then I'd do it, worth inquiring about

I don't have Bautista in any league so I have not followed his progress at all. Is he due back soon? 3rd rounder? See if you can sell him on Beachy as a keeper and not have to deal with the whole TJ Surgery situation impacting next season

He is suppose to come back this next weekend. I am just worried about his injury since it's his wrist, that type of injury is known to zap power. Bautista might not be back to true form until next season.

If you really have a shot at the title this is a good deal to make. You lose a couple of nice keepers but you get pieces that are going to help you win a title.

I agree with this. Plus G Jones has been hitting really well lately. These moves really do improve your chances of winning this year.
