Blockbuster deal?

Postby suckerpuncher » Sun Aug 19, 2012 2:46 pm

In a 12 team H2H Points keeper league on ESPN I got the following trade offer:

I give: Cano, Tulo, Price, Youkilis, Granderson, Chris Perez

I get: Kemp, Jesus Montero, Harper, Hosmer, Leake

But before you say anything there are some caveats in our keeper system.

For once we can't keep any player drafted in the first 2 rounds (§1). And also we also can keep any player only 3 consecutive years (§2).
All in all we can either keep 5 Batters and 3 Pitchers or 4 Batters and 4 Pitchers.

Youkilis and Granderson are §1 players which neither of us can keep.
Cano and Tulo are §2 players which I can't keep anymore but he'll get to keep them 3 times.

All players I receive I can keep 3 times.

My team:
C - Brian McCann, Atl C DTD - 415 points
1B - Carlos Pena, TB 1B - 389 points
2B - Robinson Cano, NYY 2B - 682 points - not keeper eligible
3B - Chase Headley, SD 3B - 610 points
SS - Zack Cozart, Cin SS - 443 points
CF - Curtis Granderson, NYY CF - 605 points-not keeper eligible
OF - Desmond Jennings, TB LF, CF - 443 points
OF - Ichiro Suzuki, NYY RF - 530 points
UTIL - Yoenis Cespedes, Oak CF, LF, DH - 470 points
Bench - Kevin Youkilis, CWS 3B, 1B - 373 points - not keeper eligible
Bench - Torii Hunter, LAA RF - 464 points
Bench - Chris Johnson, Ari 3B - 433 points
Bench - Matt Adams, StL 1B DTD - 79 points
DL - Troy Tulowitzki*, Col SS DL15 - 274 points - not keeper eligible

P - Adam Wainwright, StL SP - 586 points
P - Samuel Deduno, Min RP, SP - 136 points
SP - Dan Haren, LAA SP - 384 points
SP - James Shields, TB SP - 609 points
SP - Henderson Alvarez, Tor SP - 300 points
RP - Carlos Marmol, ChC RP - 237 points
RP - Chris Perez, Cle RP - 366 points
Bench - David Price, TB SP - 761 points
Bench - Max Scherzer, Det SP - 609 points
Bench - Ervin Santana, LAA SP - 333 points
Bench - R.A. Dickey, NYM SP - 796 points
DL - Sergio Santos*, Tor RP DL60 - 17 points

As you can see my keeper eligible batters aren't that great right now while my pitching is rather solid. And my season is already down the drain with no chances of reaching the playoffs

Given all the rules involved technically I'd give up Price and Perez (doubt he'll keep him) as the only players from my roster who I could keep. On the other hand I'd gain 4 batters which I can keep 3 times.

I got a couple of other trade offers (the likes of Gardner or Gio Gonzalez for Cano) which I didn't like at all. While the Gio one might not be that bad I just really can't see Gio as one of my top 4 SP (if I wouldn't deal Price).

All things considered should I do the deal or not?

I give: Cano, Tulo, Price, Youkilis, Granderson, Chris Perez
I get: Kemp, Jesus Montero, Harper, Hosmer, Leake

Thanks in advance.
