Keeper question - who to deal?

Postby runxc3200 » Fri Aug 17, 2012 9:53 am

Standard 5x5 roto. We keep 5 for next year, but we are forced to keep 1 pitcher. I have more than 5 bats I would easily keep so I am thinking about trying to move one for a top 5 pitcher. Potential keepers are -

Miggy
Wright
Braun
CarGo
Trout
Holliday

My best pitchers are Gallardo and Hellickson so I could use an upgrade there.

My thoughts are I drop Holliday and try and trade one of Cargo and Braun. I would consider Wright, but I think it would be easier to pick up a 3rd outfielder in the draft next year as opposed to a top 3rd baseman.

Out of Braun/Cargo who should I attempt to deal (if I go that route at all)?

Thoughts?

I think your basic strategy- trade Braun or CarGo- is sound, though see if you can package either with Holliday for a better pitcher than you could get in a 1:1 trade. If someone is pitcher-heavy and needs bats, Holliday is still a great option.

As for which one to deal, I'd put both out there and take the best deal you can get. Maybe go the "offer CarGo, settle for Braun" route. Braun is probably marginally better than CarGo, but if you have to deal him to get the guy you want, it's worth it in the end. ;-D
