Trade for J. Upton or Heyward - WHIR

I'm falling out of contention fast, and someone wants to rent matt cain for the rest of the year. He's unkeepable, and goes back into the draft regardless.... The only thing he has that entices me is both heyward and j upton at RF, and given his keeper situation, I think he might be willing to cough one of them up.

So - obviously anyone would deal an unkeepable cain for one of those 2 --- my question is, which one should I target, and would you give up either rios or j bruce to get it done? I have both those guys, keepable, and if I decide I would prefer one of his RFs instead, it makes little difference to me to give one of them up since I wouldn't be keeping them anyways.

I can only keep 5 hitters -- 3 for as long as I want, and 2 for just next year. I have reyes, a-gonz, mcutchen, mauer, rios, bruce, sandoval as my keeper candidates. How would you rank that group, and do you think j upton or heyward would be an up grade?

Must you forfeit draft picks for keepers? Or do you just keep the players and give up nothing? If you have to give up picks, I'd go with Heyward, but if the latter, I'd go with Upton. Upton has more potential, but is not as good this season.

No picks are sacrificed for keepers, if thats what you mean...

I basically want to see where heyward and upton stack up against each other, mostly next year and beyond, and where either of them rank among my other potential keepers ....agonz, reyes, mccutchen, mauer, rios, bruce, sandoval. I can only keep 5.

Go after upton with rios + bruce if you need to, seeing as your not gonna keep them just package anything youve got.

So you guys think upton over heyward easily? And either of them definitely crack my top 3 keepers? I'd rather not make the deal if it isn't a significant upgrade -- don't really wanna help this guy's title run otherwise.

As of now I figure my 5 keepers would be mccutchen, reyes, a-gonz, with mauer and rios for just next year. After the trade? Mccutchen, upton, reyes with Agonz and mauer just for next year?

Yes, Upton is a huge upgrade over Rios, especially if you have the chance to protect him for longer.

Thanks for all the help.... I'm just struggling with who to pick between heyward and upton now. I love upton, and had been after him heavily all of last year -- but heyward's having a nice season, and is younger --- and the other manager already confirmed he'd be willing to give heyward up. He may balk at giving up upton. Would you guys still think heyward a worthwhile addition to my top 3?
