Return to Draft, Trade, Keeper and Waivers Questions

I am in a 12-team H2H Keeper league. I would NOT be keeping the players I'd receive in this trade because players kept must be forfeited for their picks. I am currently 4.5 games behind 1st place and want to make a push.
The manager is arguing for a 3rd round pick, but most of the other playoff teams have already traded their lower picks, so I feel that this offer is very fair for rental players.
Am I correct in that a 4th round pick is more fair than a 3rd round pick?!? Considering I will not keep either player and the fact that it's mid August?
I Give:
4th round pick next season
Josh Reddick
Josh Beckett
I Get:
18th round pick next season
Matt Holliday
Josh Johnson
My Roster now:
C - M Montero
1st - Rizzo
2nd - Kinsler
3rd - E Chavez
SS - S Castro
OF - Kemp
OF - Bruce
OF - Ethier
Util - Reddick
Bench: Lawrie (DL), Ortiz (DL)
SPs:
Lester
Bumgarner
Wainwright
Harrison
Beckett
Straily
Hanson
Bauer
Corbin (streamer)
Cashner (DL)
RPs:
Papelbon
Bell
Holland
Perkins

I think you're paying a pretty good premium for rental players who could really make a difference and flags fly forever. Go for the 4th, and if he insists on the 3rd, pay gladly and enjoy the ride

Exactly my thoughts. Do not lose this deal over a 3rd vs. 4th round pick. Flags fly forever. The other team doesn't care when the deal gets made if you are the one contending this year; you do.

if i were the other owner i would not do it for a 4th and probably not for a 3rd....not much talent in the draft next year...id offer up ur 3rd rd pick and possibly do it for ur 2nd rd pick if he doesnt go for it

It's only one round difference here, you're getting a massive upgrade already too so try the 4th and if he says he wants the 3rd give him what he wants
thanks for the help in mine btw!
