He might not have fully deserved 1st rd status but I don't the beef with Longoria (other than recent injuries).
.272, 27 HR's, 7 SB's as a rookie in 122 games .281, 100,30,100,10 .294, 100, 22, 100, 15 .247, 80, 30, 100, 3 - BAPIP fluke
The injury concerns are valid but you're looking at a .285, 100/30/100/5 player at 3B. I have also had an infatuation with Ryan Zimmerman sadly but Longoria has been statistically better.

Agreed. Evan has the talent to produce like a top 10 player but you've probably gotta be a little lucky and pick the right couple of years.

Which is exactly what you dont want to have to do with your 1st round pick

he's probably going in the 20-40 range next year so I don't understand your argument. And I really wouldn't have a problem if my 1st rd pick put up a .285/100/25/100/5 line. A small disappointment if he didn't make 30+ HR's but not awful.
I'd love to get Longoria in the 3rd round this year. He's always been a early 3rd type player who gets drafted in the mid 1st based on name value. Now that his actual value will be in line with his draft value, I'd love to get him.
This has been a solid debate, thanks guys. Its clear there is plenty of uncertainty around his value given his history, which was exactly what I was struggling with.
I ended up trading Weaver for Longoria, but the deal was sweetened with draft picks that more than compensated for the risk.
