I've got a trade proposal to consider. I get Cain, Baumgartner, and Giancarlo Stanton for Longoria, Beltran, and Lincecum. This is a 6x6 roto leaguge (standard categories plus doubles and holds) in which we keep the 3 best players each season (as the 3 keepers count for first 3 rounds of draft no matter what). So Longoria would be a keeper, probably along with Wright, and Matt Holliday as things stand now. Also note that I'm in 2nd place, so have a legit shot at the championship this year. I can gain a few points in each category, and while my biggest opportunity is in ERA and WHIP, I think it's probably too late in the season to really move those needles dramatically.
What do you think of the trade? And which 3 would you keep if I made the trade?
My team: C: Yadier Molina 1B: Allen Craig (Konerko when back from DL) 2B: Omar Infante (Allen Craig when Konerko returns) 3B: Wright SS: Rollins CI: Longoria OF: Holliday OF: Beltran OF: Drew Stubbs Util: Alfonso Soriano (Ortiz when he returns from DL) BE: David Ortiz
SP: Lincecum SP: Lance Lynn SP: James Shields SP: Mike Fiers SP: Brandon McCarthy RP: Clippard RP: Jim Johnson RP: Kenley Jensen RP: Grant Balfour RP: Sean Marshall DL: Shawn Marcum
Honestly I'd ask for a bit more for Longoria, especially for a keeper if you're trading him.
I think you should be looking to move Holliday instead because Longoria will outproduce Holliday for sure next year, and his value should be somewhat similar because he's been playing so well this year.
I've never played in a keeper league so I'm not familiar with the whole 'next year value' deal, but that's what I'd try to do before moving Longo at least
I like this trade for you. You help your pitching staff out for this year. And you gett rid of a couple older players for younger players. As a keeper I think I would rather have Stanton over Longoria. Pair him with Holiday, and Wright (or Cain if you want a solid arm to build around). Help me; viewtopic.php?f=26&t=451735
You need thetching help but if you do the deal you will be left without a corner infielder. Who else is on the wire? Based on the trade as I see it now I would do it
Keep C Napoli 1 Butler/Davis/Hosmer/Dunn 2 Young/Utley/Zobrist 3 Moustakas SS Bonifacio/E Cabrera OF Grandy/Choo/Reddick/Kubel SP Anderson/C Lee/Oswalt Haren/Moore/A Sanchez RP Soriano/Myers/Johnson/Aceves/Parnell

Bingo! I think I'd stand pat and look for good stuff from McCarthy and Lincecum the rest of the way.
I'd also stand pat...pitchers can volatile, no matter who they are...If you want to deal Longo, I would look for two pretty nice bats, even if that meant dealing Holliday too...He won't be a top keepers for many more years...Or you could hold onto Longo, and deal Wright and Holliday for 2 top bats.
I'd also stand pat, I think you're giving up too much offense for SP. I deduct some value from SP relative to top hitters in 6x6 since they contribute to the 6th cat whereas SP do not.
i disagree.....this is a great trade for you....IMO stanton is every bit the keeper longo is.......cain and bum are young and aces....u need more help with ur staff...beltran is not a great keeper...good trade for u
1.) Longoria is overrated. The guy can go on long long cold stretches and has proven an injury liability. Same could be said for Stanton but I like what he is capable of the rest of the way. 2.) Lincecum has been completely unreliable. I take Cain here. 3.) Bumgardner will be big for you down the stretch... I take him over the extra bat in Beltran because big pitching wins in the playoffs... u don't want to be at the mercy of streaming some iffy guy.
