Leiter hit on head by line drive

Jupiter, FL (Sports Network) - New York Mets pitcher Al Leiter was hit on the right side of his head by a line drive off the bat of Florida's Alex Gonzalez in the third inning of a spring training game Saturday.

Leiter was alert after the incident but was carted off the field for precautionary reasons. He appeared to have gotten a piece of the ball with his glove, which softened the blow.

Hopefully Leiter will be just fine. I never like seeing a player hit in the head by the ball, pitcher or hitter.
