Should I trade Strasburg?

Postby Larsjam » Mon Aug 13, 2012 10:08 pm

10 team keep 4, 6x6(OPS and L)

I currently have an 8 game lead on 2nd place and am hoping to continue to steamroll through the end of the playoffs. I have, however, Strasburg as my ace and he will be useless in the playoffs.

Should I trade Strasburg for Price? And if I do, would you keep Price for the next year? Either one would count as a 4th round keeper for me.

Cano(2) and McCutchen(3) are definites

Other 2 choices would be between
1. A Gonzalez
4. Strasburg/Price
5. Hanley
6. Aramis
9. Ortiz
18. Harper
21. Rios
25. Morales, Craig, Goldschmidt
C: S Perez
1B: Gonzo
2B: Cano
3B: Aramis
SS: Hanley
CI: Goldschmidt
MI: Craig
OF: McCutch Rios DeAza BJ
Util: Morales
BN: Harper Davis Machado
SP: Stras Gallardo Shields Moore Fister Buchholz Billingsly
RP: Hanrahan Perez Holland

DL: Ortiz Griffin Bailey

I also might be able to trade Hanley for Reyes(who is worth a 2nd round pick), which would knock McCutchen back to a 4th round keeper and Stras/Price to a 5th round keeper.

I would have no problem whatsoever giving Stras to get Price.

Hanley for Reyes is also a good move, in my opinion.

I don't think I would keep Price for next year. AGonz and Reyes/Hanley would be my choice.

If you can get Price for Strasburg, go for it. Price is one of the best pitchers in the game at this point (definitely top 3). Strasburg may have more K potential, but Price is more reliable and wont give you as many scares. I'd have more faith in Price during important games!

Help please?

I say trade for Price as well and don't keep him. Not having a replacement for Strasburg on your roster for the playoffs could really hurt you, throwing away a dominant season. I wouldn't keep him either and also like the Reyes move.
