With Cook's recent struggles, and the possibility of some other guys getting decent save opportunities, I'm wondering if it's time to part ways with Cook or Santana. It appears as though Oakland will eventually put Cook back in the closer role, but there are some other really attractive options out there that are tempting.
I don't want to drop a guy like Hughes, Minor, or Straily. I need the pitching depth, so I would rather keep them and hope it pans out. But is it worth grabbing another closer as insurance for Cook, or dropping Cook altogether?
Here are some of the options:
-Luke Gregerson (Street on the DL)
-Jeremy Affeldt
-Steve Cishek
-Wilton Lopez
-Jim Henderson
-Grant Balfour
Also, James McDonald was dropped and is currently on waivers. Should I just let him go, or is it worth dropping someone to try nabbing him? Here are the FA SPs:
-James McDonald (waivers)
-Patrick Corbin
-Jeff Samardzija
-Jason Marquis
