Trade Posey/Bruce for Cain/Mauer?? WHIR

Postby lambo1203 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 10:39 am

This trade was just proposed to me, and I'm having a hard time thinking I shouldn't take it. Standard Yahoo! 5x5. I'm in 4th of 12 (six make playoffs) with four weeks left. Been getting killed in many pitching categories as of late. Here's my roster:

C: Posey
1B: Teixeira
2B: A. Hill, Altuve
SS: Reyes
3B: Prado, M. Young
OF: Bruce, CarGo, Hart, Markakis, Werth, Fowler
SP: Price, Hellickson, Zimmerman, Lester, Beckett, J. McDonald, Hanson (DL)
RP: Hanrahan, Janssen, Jansen

Thoughts?? WHIR!!!

Hmmm, if you need the pitchign then I suppose this would be a good deal. I would just test the market for Posey first because he is extremely hot right now.

not a bad deal at all, and I think it is very balanced. Would be tought to lose Posey now though the way he is swinging the bat. But if you really want to bolster your pitching, then this is a good move.

Do you start all of those OF's? If yes then I'd probably not do the deal

Who is best available OF and SP on FA list?

We start 3 OF and 2 util, so I normally start Bruce, Hart, Cargo at OF and Werth, Markakis at Util.

Best OF on FA:
R. Davis
Brantley
Span
Aoki
C. Davis (BAL)
Joyce

Best SP on FA:
Detweiler
Medlan
J. Westbrook (I put in a waiver claim for him already)
Phelps

Also, since I'm losing a lot of power, should I look to pick up someone like Pedro Alvarez or Eric Hosmer?

I would do this. I feel OF and SP are easy to come by on the wire. Cain is pitching great and can carry a SP staff. Mauer is a decent fill in for Posey, who is on fire right now.

Which OF/SP would you recommend me picking up now? I'm not sure I need to make a move for FA but with the options out there, I'm torn.
