Giving too much for Kershaw? (WHIR)

Trade offered to me:
I give: David Wright, Nelson Cruz
I get: Clayton Kershaw

I could use the pitching help for sure, and I can afford to give up both Wright and Cruz. Problem is that seems like an overpayment. Here are some of the other guys I'd be interested in off his roster:

Jered Weaver
Jake Peavy
Madison Bumgarner
Mark Trumbo
Ben Zobrist
Jacoby Ellsbury

Maybe try Zimmerman or Wright straight up for MadBum as a counter? Or is that also stupid? He had Lawrie as his starting 3B, which he obviously no longer has. So now he has Trumbo at 3B, which is great, but his 1B is Daniel Murphy from the Mets. He IS a Mets fan, so Wright might have more value than he would with someone else.

Team/league info below. Thanks, and leave a link!!

I think you should do that.

Cruz has been a huge disappointment.

The move for you would be to slot Zim in there at third and platoon your bench players in the Util spot, eventually keeping the hot hand there for the long term. You have some solid bats on the bench which is why I'd say you should go for the trade. If you had a weak bench I'd say no, but the production from those guys is being wasted.

I think Wright is a great player, but overrated as far as pure fantasy baseball stats go. A 20-25 hr guy with a high average is good to have, but you can afford to lose the high average with trout/cano/posey.

Not much needs to be said about Kershaw, he's amazing.

You are giving up a lot for Kershaw, but Wright+Cruz is about the low end of what I'd trade Kershaw for if I owned him. It takes a lot to get an elite pitcher, and if you want one, this isn't a bad deal considering how your lineup fits together.

I agree for the most part. It's an interesting deal. Starting pitching is more valuable in points leagues. Sending one for Bumgarner would also work I think but you should jump on the opportunity here for Kershaw.

Also, if you can swing a deal for Trumbo, I think now would be the time given his current slump.

IMO this is definitely an overpayment for Kershaw. But I have never played in a points league so I dont know pitchers and batters are valued there. I only play in H2H leagues, and batters are more valuable in H2H leagues.

If I was you, I would try and do the Zimmerman for Bumgarner trade. Then like one of the last posters said try and swing a trade for Trumbo too since he is currently in a slump, def a good time to buy low.

I agree...in fact, I have Kershaw...and would probably not take this deal...but my team has different needs than OF and 3B.
