Machado Machado

Postby gatornuggets » Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:56 pm

Here is my dilemma. I have one waiver acquisition left this week. I am currently tied in wins and three strikeouts behind my opponent. (H2H standard ESPN) We each have two starts left (unless he streams pitchers this weekend). I am simultaneously trying to lock up my playoff spot (in pretty good shape) and load my team for a championship run.

Options: Stream Francisco Liriano against the A's (great stats against their lineup) for a wine and strikeouts.

or

Pick up Machado with my last acquisition before anyone else does and hope he continues what we have seen so far? I can use the infield help.

Is Machado getting picked up in your leagues? You taking a chance on him?

Here is my roster:
Joe Mauer
Justin Morneau
Ian Kinsler
Chase Headley
Starlin Castro
Ruben Tejada
Carlos Lee
Mike Trout
Colby Rasmus
Justin Upton
Justin Ruggiano
Carlos Gomez
Josh Hamilton
Paul Konerko*
Ian Desmond*
Jose Bautista*

David Price
Cole Hamels
Ryan Dempster
AJ Burnett
Clay Buchholz
Jonathan Papelbon
Alfredo Aceves
Rafael Soriano
Frank Francisco

WHIR.....leave a link.

Thanks

What 2 starters do you have left to pitch and who does he have? Unless he has a big advantage, I'd be inclined to go with Machado. He has the potential to put up some really nice numbers the rest of the year and help solidify your infield a bit. Is it a keepr league?

Not a keeper league.

My starters: AJ Burnett at SD and David Price as Min

His: Jered Weaver at SEA and Phil Hughes at Toronto

I would give myself the edge but one extra start could possibly earn me 2 more points this week.

I have a sense of urgency as Machado's 2HR performance is bound to put him on some radars.

I'm currently 2nd in my division and 3rd overall with two teams right behind me.

Well never mind...he just picked up two pitchers.

Now the question, take a chance on Machado or pick up Aybar for more reliable production?

FWIW I dropped Aybar for him, but I'm starting Espinosa at SS and I've got the added luxury of Bonafacio coming back in 8 days.I figure I've got blah covered with those 2, might as well take a shot.
I picked him up as soon as he hit the triple in the first game.I'd been eyeballing Segura but wasn't impressed.

Well I hope our gamble pays off. I've got Desmond returning at some point in the near future hopefully. Tried dealing away Castro before the trade deadline but couldn't get it done. I'll move Machado over to 3rd once he gains eligibility there.

Desmond and Cuddyer were on the WW as DL and I had a DL spot open, but I've already got 2 Nats on my team so I went with Cuddyer, figuring I'll put him and his OF #'s at 2B and slide Espinosa to SS/bench/matchup/backup guy or boot Stubbs and play Cuddyer in the OF.

I know a league member is gonna see this and use it to plot against me
