Trade Fowler for Papelbon?

Postby SecretAgentMan » Fri Aug 10, 2012 7:59 pm

5x5 Roto, weekly 10 team mixed league keeper (keep 6).

In a pitched battle for the title and need HR/RBI/Runs on offense (SBs tanked and not a considertion at this point).

I am 6 saves behind 2 teams (2 points available). 20 Ks behind 2 teams (2 other points available). Lead ERA and WHIP by a lot. Lead Ws as well with only 1 team close (2 Ws back)..all others 10 Ws or more behind. Been playing 7 starters\2 closers most of the time to try to gain Ws and Ks. Every now and then I go to 8 starters\1 closer (I always leave in Jansen).

I have Swisher on the bench I can bring in to replace Fowler (both are pretty cold right now).

I went with this strategy because Putz stunk and Betancourt simply was not getting a lot of saves and it has been effective so far. The real question is whether the upgrade to Papelbon at the cost of Fowler is going to make a difference in saves to be worth the risk in going with Swisher 100% of the time. I would likely have to cut one of Putz or Betancourt (or Colon if he fizzles) at some point as welll as I can't burn my bench with 2 players I am not using most of the time and liekly have to activate Marcum sooner or later.
