Assuming Machado retains or regains his SS eligibility early nextyr, where do u think his value lies in a keeper? I was offered kershaw and a 2nd n 4th pick for him. Now mind u, machado can be kept for 3 more yrs n kershaw only 1 morr so is machado worth the gamble? I know this isnt the right forum, just wanted some opunions on machados value in a keeper. Thanks!

not knowing anything else about the keeper rules i'd say that's a pretty sweet return for 2 days worth of production from a 20 year old.

I would definitely trade three years of Machado for one year of Kershaw. I would think that Machado spends a good portion of next year in Triple-A, unless Baltimore is surprisingly competitive again.
depending on how Machado does the rest of this season, couldn't the Orioles start him right from the start next season at either SS or 3B? I don't see a need to start him in the minors if he shows he can be successful this season. I know his age is a factor and that he has only played at AA before coming up to Baltimore. but he has the tools to succeed. his BB/K rates were good in the minors. but maybe I'm biased. I'm thinking about keeping him in a 16 team league where we only keep 5. that would only happen if it was certain he would start 2013 with Baltimore.

He would have to be exceptional for that to happen. I certainly don't think they want him at 3B long-term, so I would judge his availability at the beginning of 2013 based on whether they trade Hardy during the off-season (or have him work at 3B or 2B).
